Well, the Fourth Of July came and went. The heat wave was still in effect here in Southeast Ohio back then so we elected to have a family barbecue on the deck here at the house. The camp that Izze had selected turned turned out to be the farthest thing from what she had hoped it would be, so Vanessa drove another thousand miles to pick her up and bring her home. This is a whole other conversation that I’m not going to specifically address here. Suffice it to say that i am more than disappointed in what the reality of that camp was. All that being said, our girl is back and her summer is progressing in a much more positive way.

As for the Fourth… I love my country each and every day and even though the fellowship and fireworks is always gratifying, I don’t need a special moment to reaffirm my commitment. Nuff said.

It’s in the mid seventies this beautiful Sunday… just beautiful! We’re all just pottering around the house at the Ranch enjoying this rare moment of relative low stress. These are the moments that keep me going when things get hectic. I just did a cool guitar part for Joe Louis Walker’s new project. Thanks for thinking of me Joe. I remember when Joe was a teenager from the Western Addition where I was living in the early days of the Fillmore. Glad we’re still here bud!

Taking a day far from the madding crowd… TV never came on today, computer is going off… Maverick and I are going for a walk and then maybe a swim with the girls.

Have a great Sunday all!

    @Tom Fabry .
We have Tuna coming to Long Island this Sunday.
Then Jorma’s book is coming out in August.
Then Tuna plays Bethel Woods in September.
Then Tuna plays the Beacon in NYC in November.
These certainly are the good ole days!

Yes, lemons help the body remain alkaline as opposed to acidic. The yellow rind is good for us too. Throw it in the blender…organic please. Fights off cancer a bit too…
    Avoid sugar.
    Get some sun.
    Have an endorphin a day.
Having an attitude of gratitude is very healthy for body, soul, mind, neighbors and world. Avoid toxic avengers. Pray for and love your enemies, but shake the dust off your feet if necessary and watch your back. Sing songs of praise, for as brother David advised… Psalm 81 vs1-2

“Sing to joy to God our strength; shout aloud to the God of Jacob! Begin the music, strike the tambourine, play the melodious harp and lyre.”….and finger pick with a dropped D, driving the proverbial bus, praising the Lord in good times and in bad…

These are the good ole days

Hello Jorma, looking forward to reading your auto-biography. Quick question: is it better to purchase your book directly from you (i.e. at FPR) or through the net (Amazon, etc.)? I’m good either way but always want to side on the side that better benefits the writer/musician/artist wether it be CDs or books. I’ve always wondered this question. On one hand, I think direct could be better for the artist by cutting out a middle man (er person). However, on the other hand, I wonder if purchasing via internet spurs others to make a purchase (by seeing reviews etc). Any thoughts?

Hi Chappy… For better or worse, selling books is different from selling music. Books only scan if they are sold by a store, or ‘official’ outlet. We want all our sales to scan, so in the beginning at least we will not be selling them ourselves. More will be revealed, I’m sure, but for now… buying them online or from a store is the way to go. Thanks for asking.

    All will be well.

Have a great summer. We are only 17 days into summer so far. Hope it lasts a reeeaaalll long time.

Psalm 34:18 “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” And sometimes we gots to help out.

Sorry to hear about Izze’s camp experience, but it is hard to beat FPR anyway. Maverick is one lucky dog, way too hot in South Florida for a day time walk (but not too hot to ride)

I was lucky to see Duane and Dicky at the Fabulous Forum when I was 13. I tend to downplay the fact that I was there to see 3 Dog Night. And I tried hard to act cool, but I was only 13.

Thank you for that! It’s probably been 45-50 years since I heard it, back in the days when my parents had comedy records and I went to camp myself. Funny memory.

We all have so much to be grateful for. Every day we should should give thanks to live in the greatest country in the world. You’re right, it got downright cool last night. Looking forward to seeing you this Sunday at the Long Island Music Festival on Sunday. We are driving 8 hours roundtrip to see it. Only thing is you’re only playing for an hour. An hour is better than none. Dickey Betts is the headliner. Still should be a great show. Have a nice barbeque.
