Thirty Years

I had a private event in Montauk so it made sense to stop by The Stephen Talkhouse and pick a set. I’ve been working for Peter Honerkamp for thirty years and the good old Talkhouse just never gets old. My good friend G.E. Smith stopped by and we had some big fun!

They had the Jan Hanna Band playing some great music before and after my set. Johnny didn’t know what was coming.

One of my favorite songs sounds like it might be apropos of your country getaway.

Came upstate for the summer last week. Rivers and streams are fast. Just got my internet connection yesterday. Our first time up since the fall. After a busted pipe and mowing the lawn for 3 hours I was exhausted. First thing I went for was a cold one and some Hot Tuna, Canned Heat, Lynard Skynard, Jimi Buffett etc. Country living might not be for everyone – but it sure is right for me.
Caught the Chris Robinson Brotherhood on Brown’s Island in Richmond last night. Great show…lots of nice jams. Neal Casal on lead guitar was awesome. Pete Sears was on keyboards…his 2nd show with the band. He lit it up on a few tunes as well. Unfortunately, Pete took a tumble as the band was exiting the stage after their set. He did manage to make it back for the encore “Mandolin Wind.” Coincidentally, I believe he played on Rod Stewart’s original studio version back in the early 70’s.
Correction…5.6-liter petrol V8 powered. Yikes.
Hey Jorma,
I saw some images of the custom built Cummins powered Titans designed for (and donated to) for the Grand Canyon Conservancy’s Canyon Field School, for youth to better enjoy the natural wonder.
It appears you are properly suited to explore the Grand Canyon safely and comfortably. If you didn’t see the story, I thought you’d get a kicked out of it. See ya soon.
Jorma great show at the Talkhouse! What a perfect venue and that Good Shepherd with G.E. was just phenomenal. Thanks to you both. See you at Westbury in August.
I had Moyshe Pipik entertain at my uncles 75th..The look on his face when I requested “Song for the Fire Maiden” from Yellow Fever?
Priceless.
What a great present – Happy Birthday Johnny…one lucky guy.
Love the sneakers…
🙂
Was passing by the Rockville cemetery today which is in Lynbrook Long Island NY and stopped to visit the grave of the Rev. Gary Davis..Only 5 minutes from my house..The man in the office who told me the spot where he is said people from all over the world come to pay respect like I did today. Funny had a friend who past many years ago whose backyard backed up to this cemetery..We used to see HT together back in the Palladium days in NYC and we didnt even know he is there. May he RIP and G-d bless his soul..Thanks Jorma for the post you did some time ago telling us where he is..
Montauk is called “The End” because it’s on the most eastern tip of Long Island. It’s very beachy and low key. Andy Warhol once lived there. It’s always been hip. I used to go out there in the 80’s and 90’s. Sounds like a great party. Great setlist. Including my favorite HT song of all time “New Song For The Morning”.
Mike Wilhelm of the Charlatans has shuffled down the pickin trail of eternity…

Glad to be at the party Jorma. Shout out to Johnny Skinz for a great job on the sneakers
Hello Phil/Jen/Kim… Would love to see the video and the look on Johnny’s face when Jorma walked thru the door or onto the stage or however you all did it…
Quite a sweet selection of tunes to hear at a New York birthday party.
Thanks so much for making Johnny’s birthday one he’ll not soon forget!! Everything came together as planned.(Jen made sure of that
