So a week ago tomorrow Myron and I set out from the Fur Peace Ranch To meet Jack and Phil up in Woodstock to play a gig at Levon’s Midnight Ramble out on Plochman Lane.

I had really hoped to get some more Fotos from my bird, but it was just too darn windy. The three gig run with Jack was a great excuse to celebrate his 75th birthday. Sometimes time seems to fly and sometimes it drags on. In any case, life is life and Jack and I are having more fun than ever sharing a journey that started a long time ago for us! up at Levon’s Barn the warmth and love for JC was overflowing!

Everynight there was a yummy cake for Jack. Fortunately there were lots of people to help him dig in.

Thanks for a great Tuna show at Murmmr in Brooklyn, Jorma. ( Who knew a Temple in Brooklyn was a music venue) It was a pleasure to sing HB to Jack and to see you both play.

I’ll see you at Stephen Talkhouse in East Hampton next month. Can’t wait!

    @Bernie
Dubi is a generous host and fine picker. He hosted a private house concert for his community and I was extremely lucky to attend. I won’t plaster them here, but a couple good websites will take you to a few NJ/PA house concerts and folk projects. Usually a pot-luck, byob thing. Thoroughly enjoyable!

Hi Dennis, We live in NJ about an hour from the Poconos. Never heard of Dubi’s, no info on the internet. Is it a small theater, pub, what is Dubi’s? Was in Brooklyn (amazing time), but would have done this as well.
    Thanks!

This entry is from NY (New York) state, made by a guitar player, tracking the life and stories of Jorma Kaukonen, teacher, musician, father, husband—This entry is for blog researchers 200 years from this day, 2219, and beyond. Today is the day after, in world history that Julian Assange was pulled out of the Ecuadorian embassy in London.

    Dear Jorma,

Just wanted to say thank you for two nights of outstanding music. Genesis was such a treat and sounded beautiful. The sound at Mt. Tabor is always great, and a double encore in Brooklyn was firmer than firm…..:-)
It was so nice to see everyone again..
Looking forward to the summer tour.
Take care and enjoy your time at home.

Too bad about high winds at The Barn. Some more birds eye views would have been cool. The woods around there are mighty fine. I hiked up Overlook Mountain and climbed the fire tower one time. I could see Levon’s place below, and the 360 view was breathtaking. From the Catskill Mountains to the Gulf Coast waters, this land is part of you and me. Great place for a birthday party, and I’m sure a show for the ages (no, not aged). Get back to Texas soon as you can!

Cassidy canoli-caking Kaukonen (who was breaking Jack’s balls over extinguishing candles) was only bit that would have made show any more fulfilling, for me. The prompt was in my head but delayed by my psyche flowing with the tunes.

Great stuff. Today I recalled grabbing a chair beside a Jazz great early in my first go-round in rooms, back in 87′. I don’t know if musicians hear the pieces we play ourselves in-head the way I used to hear an author’s voice,.but.said Jazzman asked what I was listening to. It took a.moment for him to recall Tuna’s “Hesitation Blues”, but we listened and enjoyed tune together. I don’t think I do replay from anymore.

Cashdollar was in the house, but I guess it would have been too much.

The Mt. Tabor show was awesome. The sound was crystal clear and you could here a pin drop. I got to see Woody Mann perform at one of Dubi’s house concert. Great place.

Looks like a nice new parking area next to the cabins, in that last photo. Looking forward to parking there again someday.

Happy birthday to the THUNDEROUS Jack Casady—and many more! Calling Jack a bass player is like calling Michelangelo a painter. There are people who “do” and people who “define.”

When the tix for this tour first went on sale I tried to get into The Barn in Woodstock – sold out. Tried to get tickets to The Tabernacle – sold out. Finally got a great seat at the Murmrr in Brooklyn. What a great show. I just love stained glass. Keep Your Lamps was incredible. I’m still humming Good Shepherd.
So glad you guys are having fun. Because we’re having a blast!
Hope you had a great Happy Birthday Tour Jack!
