So the week before the Fur Peace Ranch opened for the beginning of our 22nd season, John Hulbut and pals (myself included) took the stage at the Station for a maiden run of the venue and our new streaming service.

The show Sat. night in Brooklyn was really great. Watching Jormas fingers on fire is always fun..Was there early to meet a fellow Tuna head for dinner and guess who was loading in..Yes at 4 PM there was Jorma unloading gear. Got to shake his hand and say hi..A gentleman as always..Thanks..
Great show in Brooklyn Saturday. Jack really stepped it up for Good Shepherd and Keep Your Lamps Trimmed & Burning. Seemed like he had a bit of a head cold but pushed himself through – a true profesional. Jorma, your finger pickin’ was just plain smokin’!
And 2 encores….fuggedaboutit.

A girlfriend of Jimi’s who doesn’t like me telling her name in public told me a story I wish I could replay on audio because it was such an incredibly interesting heartfelt account of talking to Mike Bloomfield outside the Peppermint Lounge in Chicago where Mike was trying to make it for the first time way back in the early 60’s…Bloomfield told her if I pass this audition you’ll know it because you’ll see my name on the marquee…Hey, Mike – don’t sweat it man…Relax…You’ve got it made…Mario Maglieri and Elmer Valentine of the Peppermint Lounge went on to form the Whiskey A Go Go in Los Angeles…

Had plans to go to the Mummrr until my son informed me that he is getting engaged that night. So now instead of driving 2 + hrs. north to see Tuna Im driving out to Manhasset.Oh well
Gotta admit i am loving listening to the Jorma at Rockplast 1980 release on Amazon .Brings back memories .I loved that sound and songs as well .You rarely if ever dive into much more than Barbecue king live from that time period (White Gland /Vital Parts ) Jorma & Steeler !!). i loved all of that ..It was always Jorma tearing it up lol .. Anyway it is great and it sounds excellent ..Those were the days ..Peace & Love ..Anything Jorma is Great anyway lol !!

I can’t believe it’s April already. See you guys on Saturday in good old Brooklyn. I can’t wait. Would love to also see you up in Woodstock – but it sold out in like 3 days. There’s nothing like Spring up in the Catskills.

Not long ago I read of a lost Caravaggio found in an attic in Toulouse. Expected to fetch $171 million. Not in the attics of my life, but good for whoever’s attic it was.

A very clever April Fool’s joke, I must say.
It’s so funny – they just found a new Botticelli in Florence. They had an old Italian Renaissance painting in the Uffizi gallery for centuries. When they cleaned it up it was determined to be a Botticelli over the weekend.
Good one on the April fool’s joke. Got my heart thumping for a brief moment. The laughing cat is priceless. Got me.
Thanks for airing Hurl & Friends! I couldn’t make it out to FPR for the show so I really appreciate being able to enjoy such a great night of music via the livestream! (Is livestream one word or two?…..I dunno). I was able to make it out for the HT show last week and it was another night of musical magic! Don’t forget Raphael. I think he painted a whole room you go through on the way to the chapel. He’s one of my favorites, after Michelangelo and Leonardo. Boticelli is high on my list as well.
Botticelli in the Sistine Chapel. … He and several other artists had been selected by Pope Sixtus IV to decorate the walls of the Sistine Chapel. These artists included Ghirlandaio and Rosselli from Florence and Perugino from Umbria. This was some twenty-seven years before Michelangelo began his work on the ceiling.
I see the resemblance of Botticelli and Jorma. What a laugh. Both artists who have made their mark.
There are a couple of similar Botticelli portraits around the world. I saw the one pictured above at the National Gallery in Washington. I saw a similar one at the Metropolitan in NYC. Botticelli was a Italian Renaissance master. Jorma is a true Renaissance man and musician.
Jormas picture should be called ‘Young Man with Guitar’.
Those Renaissance hairstyles never go out of fashion.
