Setting up for the lunch crowd!

Foto by Myron Hart

Today the Fur Peace Ranch was open for a panini lunch and we hosted twenty guests. It’s the first time we’ve been open for anything since The Crises began and we were so grateful to be able to do it. I picked a bunch of songs and of course had Hurl join me for two tunes.

    Ian Buchanan, yourself, John Hammond … What was in the water in Yellow Springs in the early 60’s that precipitated such a robust expression of the blues ? And isn’t Richie Furay from there as well ?

      In a way, Antioch College back then was an extension of the scene that was happening in NYC. Think Washington Square. Richie Furay’s mom ran the gift shop in town in town back then. It was a vibrant scene.

    Wonderfu l- stumbled on your YT performance last night (subscriber & watched pre-crisis events). R Thompson is doing Sunday afternoons on FB live. Noticed on wiki Ian Buchanan mentored you back in the day… cool. So that’s a “Yes” vote for an evening of you just chatting & shooting the breeze about days gone by sometime on YT.

      Yeah man… in a way I owe Ian a debt of gratitude for helping my life become what it did. Indeed…

    Hi Jorma,

    Thank you for playing ‘Follow The Drinking Gourd’. Loved the 1964 Monterey Fairground story (Joan Baez headlining). Nice to watch your A Minor jam in the middle, then final chord, resolves on A Major. Perfect. Harvey Coleman would say” “Mash It Up”… Thanks.

    Glad to see the Ranch is in Phase 1 of reopening, although the patio looks a little more socially distanced than I envisioned. Stay safe and Be Well, Thanks in advance for #10

    Jorma have you ever been to a drone racing site?I went by one a few weeks ago on my way out to Westhampton Beach.Never knew they existed.

    • Comment made on June 6, 2020 by Jorma

      I have not. That stuff is interesting but for me, the drone is a flying hi def camera.

    Jorma do you think Tuna will be able to scheduale any dates out west for late summer ? Montana , Wyoming , Idaho, Arizona … Or have we lost the whole summer you think ? Thanks for the Saturday night shows as it means a lot to us that are hunkered down here in the Garden State. May God bless and keep you and yours always.

      Hey John… all dates are cancelled through August. This tour has been postponed until July of 2021. Please check the Hot Tuna or the Jorma tour page. Thanks brother…

    Speaking of dogs, I can’t help but wonder if the tenor of events in recent days is sufficient to justify the abuse of a cherished instrument apparently required for a performance of Police Dog Blues ?

    @Ken
    YOU are the most important audience. Set your standards as high as possible, and never stop practicing. You’ll know when it’s good. Anything after that is all gravy. (And dogs like that, too.)

    Wondering if the ranch will start selling custom Face Mask. Just make sure they can fit some of us with larger face / heads. Must be those Eastern European genes.
    Also you wrote about sailing on the USS United States ocean liner. The ship sits on the Delaware River just North of the Walt Whitman Bridge on the Philly side.At one time some investors bought thinking they could fix it up.
