Dear Jorma,
I’ve been wondering why you haven’t played Police Dog Blues in any of the 25 shows yet. I’m guessing it might be one of the few songs you haven’t played. My wife and I have watched every show, it’s our Saturday sanity date are playing better than ever. We love hearing you play so much. Thank you for what you do. We’ve heard you talk about Blind Blake and what an influence his music has been to you, and you’ve done other songs of his including some rare ones I never heard you do before..but still no Police Dog. I wonder whether it’s a thematic thing, is story of the song that doesn’t resonate with you anymore? Do you not play it out of love and respect for Vanessa? I can’t figure it out any other way, it’s such a great song. Yesterday I came upon a video of this young 13 year old gal playing it, switching the gender, and thought I’d send it to you in the hopes I could convince you to give it a go once again.
Peace and good health to you Jorma, you’re a blessing to us all in these times. We hope that one day you can be a rambling man again bringing your music in person to our little towns and music halls.

Hi Cary… I haven’t played Police Dog Blues in 30 years. I think I just got lazy. The guitar has to be tuned up to an E tuning and that’s hard on the guitar. D tuning Capo 2 is just not the same thing. Anyway… lazy. I’m thinking about it though. Thanks for asking.

Just my opinion here, but the RV is really too futuristic looking for Meigs County. Too modern. Now, put a lift kit and a set of gumbo mudders on it and you might have something. m

I was fortunate to spend the Rev Weekend at the FPR with Larry and Terresa in October 2014. Larry had traveled with an impressive collection of fine instruments to record the album earlier that week (Terresa being the finest of all).
I will never forget sitting with you and Larry (eating delicious cheeseburger wraps and listening to “No More Hot Dogs”) while you discussed what to break-out for the afternoon set that was planned for us. It doesn’t get any better that that!

It’s flooding’ down in Texas. People voting like never before. Lots of young people. I do believe our red tide might be fixin’ to get swept out to sea by a giant blue wave. The moral arc of history indeed bends toward justice. Believe! And vote, if you ain’t already.
Outstanding photo. There is something about the way in which the contrast of chromatic foliage and grey, ominous skies strike the eye that portends inclement weather. It wouldn’t surprise me if the clouds opened up shortly after this picture was taken. I hope you all have a safe and solid place to hunker down when the hardcore storms hit.
We really enjoyed this past Sat. show featuring Jack & Larry Campbell. While watching Larry it dawned on me that he resembled my neighbor growing up. Rex Lau is his name. Anyone who is into the I would guess Modern Art in the NYC area might have seen his works. Rex lived next door & his parents let him use the walls of his room as an everyday changing canvas.

Thank you for another great show. Haven’t missed any. “What Are They Doing In Heaven” brought me to tears, in a good way. The magic of water to cleanse. Your shows are the anchor for our week, and our family though spread out, watches ‘together’. We were lucky to see you and Jack, with Larry and Theresa on a COLD night in ST Paul, early in December 2019. Seems like a million years ago. We’re hanging tough in Wis, wearing masks and distancing, but the Covid is raging. Fingers crossed for a nonviolent election process and for goodness predominate. Thanks again!
