I left home for the first time in the better part of a year. Down in Southeast Ohio people still waffle about masks. We’ve been lucky down there. Not enough people have died to make many take it seriously back home. Out on the road, it’s masks and distance everywhere from truckstops to hotels. No one is fooling around. I’d stand a better chance of getting the Virus in Athens, Ohio than I would here in New Jersey. I played a house party for some friends last night and I could not have felt safer. There was fellowship, good food, a wedding proposal, an acceptance and a show by me. There was distance, UV light and hand sanitizer to spare. No one was unmasked but me when I sang. So far so good. Guys like me don’t have time to spare. Time to start moving on in whatever the new world will offer us. I’m moving on. Anyway…

Here is the set list:

Tomorrow and Monday I’m doing shows at the Blu Grotto. Well, it’s at the racetrack so there’s distance aplenty. They’ve already done 25 or so shows, so they’ve got it together. Being out in the world finds it a very different place and the rhythm of living here in the Northeast has changed immensely. I’ve been living in a bubble. That’s OK. Life is change as Kantner might paraphrase. Change indeed. We’ll all do what we have to do to live, and stay safe.

I just heard a good one from back home. In the spirit of the Black Plague, unmasked miscreants are Rat Lickers.

There are better days to come, and for me… it could be worse.

Stay well…

    I bought the Divided and United (The Songs of the Civil War) CD. Jorma, great job on “The
    Mermaid.” What a great bunch of players and singers! Hope to see you at the Ranch some time soon.

    Amen. Sending Positive Vibrations…and saying thanks to you Jorma. Always good to ‘see/hear’ Drinking Gourd in the setlist; and ‘Highway Song’ (72 Burgers) for a live audience. So Nice.

    @Ed
    Amen, brother!!! That’s what made America great. The good old American can-do attitude. I believe that we’ll get back to it directly. Pendulum is fixin’ to swing.

    Glad you feel safe here, Jorma. I’ve refrained from responding to comments about our “knucklehead” governor, but there’s a reason things are safer in NJ. People can accomplish a lot by respecting one another and working together.

    Southeast Ohio sounds a lot like southeast Texas. That “don’t tread on me” spirit has become so twisted as to mean “don’t f**k with me”. Rat Lickers. I like that one. Properly masked and distanced, I feel safe wherever I go. Just steer wide of the miscreants. I hope you receive a modicum of normalcy on your trip off the reservation. I take it as a sign things are working back towards the light. Be safe and enjoy yourself (like you need to he told…). It’s nice to have something to look forward to. Thirteen days and counting.

    Haven’t seen Larry and Teresa perform since Little Rock with Levon when he was inducted into Arkansas Music Hall of Fame. It was good to watch them again. That guy has one of the kindest smiles. And plays a mean guitar and fiddle. Thanks fir the treasure.

    I’m with you Jorma.
    My feelings are, ya gotta do what ya gotta do. Do it with respect for others.
    That means be safe. I believe this pandemic is an opportunity to grow. The world is changing, and I must embrace it. That includes the virus.
    Your bubble allowed you to broadcast to your fans, make new ones, and bring happiness. May you continue your musical, and spiritual journey.
    I’m with you.
