Yeah… so in the process of changing servers, a lot of stuff happened that turned out to be very inconveniencing. That’s modern life, and it could be worse. In the process of getting back on line my WordPress interface updated itself. I’ve been avoiding this for a long time because I know how the older version works but oh well… it was not to be. OK. I’m in the throes of learning the new program and if I can keep from throwing my computer out the window in the process… I’ll be all right. I’m a slow learner…
The rain has been relentless here… a non-stop soaker. The ground everywhere is saturated and we’re expecting flooding. Thank goodness the Fur Peace Ranch is above the flood plain. Grey and more grey… rain and more rain. Again… it could be worse for us. I just recorded a podcast with my blues buddy from Chicago, Dave Specter. His cast, Blues From The Inside Out is awesome. Check it out. When we get to be around people again, I want to get him down to the Ranch.
Well, that’s about it for now. Gotta work on some tunes for #8.
Stay well…
Thx Kevin
@Joe from VA
Hey Joe, just go to You Tube through the link on this site on the home page and you will be there. Click on the subscribe button, it helps Jorma, Vanessa, and the gang at the ranch to have more subscribers. Doesn’t cost a thing, just a flick of the finger. And if you have a smart tv, download the You Tube app on your tv, again at NO COST, and you have Jorma on the big screen.
Carey – look up the comic strip Gasoline Alley
Whenever Joel and Rufus, handy men back in the day, ran into the problem, the answer was always two things; fetch the sledge and fetch the jug.
Morning, all. Just my 2 cents:
We’re all guests here, so let’s be polite and considerate and caring to everyone.
Plenty of other sites for political discussions/arguments. I know I’d miss this blog a lot if Jorma had to shut it down.
Thanks!
Good morning all—apologies if I’m just clueless, but I haven’t seen the link to tonight’s show.

@The Orangeman
U may have missed the bit about writing a Rodney King type… A Rodney King type may save your tail someday and may be a reason our country is spared the punishment it deserves, deserves for a lot of reasons…and it probably won’t come from the skies but from our own machinations.
Biden’s recent gaffe seemed like a stupid mistake…your writing seemed deliberate to bring up a certain negative imagery.
Spread peace, we don’t have much time left, at least down here.
Thank you, Jorma. My skin is crawling….very disturbing
@The Orangeman
I mean, you don’t shoot round balls from from a 45 or a 38 to begin with, so what’s to make sense? It coulda been a 50mm on an AK-47 frame and the song woulda been just as good, in my opinion.
It’s a mixed metaphor song… Steve Earle, Devil’s right hand… cap and ball Colt… next century… .38 Special blah blah blah
@The Orangeman
The thang I like ‘bout songs, poetry, hell, all art for that matter is this: It don’t have to make a bit of logical sense to be anything from entertaining to downright enlightening.
Sometimes that new technology can give you some bad blues –
Back in the New York suburbs there was a lake by our neighborhood and in the winter it froze hard…If it didn’t snow there would be good clean ice where you could open up your skates and speed skate down its long length…The lake would make expansion crack noises at night you could hear from my house as the night got colder…Speed skating was a fine edge of the slick of the ice, edge of your skate blade, and leg and body muscles where you’re flying on the ice and your head is free…You would have to make really wide turns because you were going so fast…
@JB
Yeah, I got you. “When they pry it from my cold, dead hand.” You bona fide, brother. The that’s your cred for membership in the IBG – International Brotherhood of Geezers. Curmudgeons of the world, unite!
I loved my dad, but he could be cruel 😉 The more grief people gave me about the flip phone, the more I dug in!
@JB
Whoa, JB, your dad called you a Luddite? That seems kind of reversed, but I like it. Your tenacity in holding on to the flipper is oddly admirable.
My dad used to call me a luddite. I am one year removed from a flip phone.
@Rich Lindbloom
Don’t know who Joel is, but I like the way he talks. That’s a mighty fine expression I’ve never heard before, although I do know a guy named Rufus.
@Richard K
No, stick with the hammer. You have my sympathies, Jorma.
“fetch the sledge Rufus. ” – Joel
Take me back, carry me back, back to Gasoline Alley where I started from.”
I am also with the Orangeman, 99 Year Blues
Ok, I’m 87 pages into Been So Long. First, Jorma is the Forrest Gump of Rock and roll and B, how did thr 3 of you, Lee, Margareta fit into a MBG roadster at the SF Airport?
I find when having trouble with new tech hitting with a hammer is very satisfying..Just costs a little…Or a couple of deep breaths is probably better..Good luck..
History Slick… this has nothing to do with anything you mentioned. Back in the day a .45 Long Colt full size revolver chambered down to a lighter but not insignificant round like a .38 Special made for a more accurate pistol as the weight of the frame ate up the kinetic energy of the round. As for self defense, no one wants to get shot with anything. A .22 Winchester Magnum Derringer in the right hands should be enough. This is not a firearms blog so that’s all I’m going to say on that subject. Last but definitely not least, I consider the Rodney King reference racist and unacceptable. Any more of this kind of stereotyping on my site and well… we’re going to be done here. Nuff said… I hope.
