Hey everybody and a good, good morning this chilly but lovely Saturday morning. Tonight… #6 of the Quarantine Series.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bok1vPD9y5w&feature=youtu.be
OK… as mentioned last weekend, we’re going to attempt to stitch together a world wide chorus of Woody’s great song, ‘This Land Is Your Land.’ The key word is ‘chorus.’ Tonight Vanessa will reveal the email address your clips should be sent to. Many of you are already excited about this and champing at the bit so here’s the deal. Who knows what key Woody did it in and it doesn’t matter. We do the song in C…. and you will too. You must sing along with us on the chorus only please. Again the participation is intended for a vocal chorus only. NO INSTRUMENTS! If you film yourself playing a guitar, it will languish on the cutting room floor. Make it easy for us to do the edits necessary to pull this off. Yeah, I know… I’m not fond of rules either but considering what we’ve all been going through, this is not too constrictive. 🙂
Needless to say, it will be the last song of the concert. Stay well, and see ya on the small screen.
Get Grace Slick to sing a line!
I did send a chorus clip but who knows if it arrived… please let us know when you have us in stitches…

Vanessa is on it…
@Tom
Thanks for the response/clarification…
I just read regarding Dylan and NYC “He blew into town on a cold December day in 1960, slammed the door of his car, walked into Café Wha and landed a gig that night. That’s the legend, anyway. Truth is that he slogged around uptown hustling for gigs in the Theater District for months before the Village beckoned.”

Were you at Gerdes to play at an open mic or just observe?
I would like to see that video of you on stage w Dylan and Larry. Very cool moment for him to send his security guard to grab you to say hello.
Living Just For You – So you take off the finger picks and go to the flat pick for that tune? Interesting… Not being a player that uses the multiple finger picks, I would think you would just use the thumb pick to accomplish the work.
Great show last night Jorma ! Thank you & Vanessa for doing these shows ,they are the bright spot of my week .Stay safe and catch you Saturday night .Peace & love ..Hurl & Myron are awesome .Thank you all !!
Another incredible show last night! Thanks Jorma and the FPR team. JK is always great and Myron and Brother John (Hurl) keep killing it every week as well. Y’all got to figure out a way to release a CD (2-discs) of all these tunes featuring JK, MH and JH. Don’t know how that works but I’d pay good money for a copy and buy a bunch of copies for my friends. Maybe split proceeds 75% to musicians and 25% to a charity for kids. Myron penned tune was super and Hurl’s “Knockin’…” was awesome! And that Fender Jazzmaster tone was perfect! I’m just ramblin’ now but I’ve actually heard that Dylan does have a great sense of humor…at least that’s what I recall both George Harrison and Clapton saying at one time in various interviews. Speaking of Clapton, since you answered the Dylan inquiry, have you very played with EC and/or crossed paths? I know he lives in Columbus, Ohio now and being so close I wonder if he’s been hipped to FPR? And, while I’m rambling, a cool future show at FPR would be Larry Campbell and Charlie Sexton playing together, sharing stories and maybe taking questions. Or maybe Terry Allen with Shannon McNally and Charlie?! Anyway, love the streams and FPR! Keep the faith and let’s all keep on keeping on!
Good show…. Like yu have been dling it for ove 50 years.
I believe you said meeting Dylan was 1960….I believe he arrived in NYC in 1961… Just clarifying… Other than lending him $5 smackers, any other remembrances? Imagine 2 Jewish boys connecting on their shared faith.
Also did you say you played Highway 61 w Phil and Larry and Dylan or just Phil and Larry?
Living Just For You….Cool. Thanks for that beauty. When you play it w the electric band of brothers, you do keep the finger picks on, right? And if that is so, do you ever do any finger picking when doing it electric or is it just w the thumb pick strumming out the ryrhem, similar to what you did last night?
By the way I don’t think you have done 99 Year Blues Yet.
1960 Gerde’s Folk City… we wuz there, I was a complete nonentity and even if i were somebody I would never have discussed my heritage with a stranger.
Hwy. 61 with Dylan,,, Charlie Sexton and Larry and Tony Garnier
Living Just For You was written with a flat pick, is always played with a flat pick and that’s the way I did it the other night… just like I played it for Stephen Stills in 1971. I use a flat pick depending on the song and who I’m playing with. Like most people of my generation, I started out paying the guitar with a flat pick.
Yes…..for Vanessa- I am certain that those in the chat sharing about glitches were just advising, not complaining. The glitches did not take away from the experience. I believe that everyone is so grateful for this respite we receive each Saturday night! Thanks so much for making it happen,!
The show was great! Something got lost in the email for posting address and quite a few of us sent the email to the wrong address. I received an email from the woman who has been getting all the video’s.

Jorma: Please tell Vanessa not to sweat the technical difficulties. Keep that blood pressure down. Anything you all do is a bonus and a gift. Thank you.
living just for you sweet g
Really enjoyed the show last night!
The setlist was perfect as usual and Myron and John were terrific.
Thanks a lot for doing these show and thanks to the crew.
I noticed there was a full moon last night. It’s called the “Flower Moon”.
It’s a Supermoon and it’s shining on all the blooming flowers on earth.
These shows are the highlight of my week! Thanks to all at Fur Peace Ranch for putting a smile on face every Saturday night! I really enjoy Jorma’s story telling as well. Can we look forward to a fireside chat show soon? I had a vision of Jorma in a tweed jacket, wearing a cravat, smoking a tobacco pipe and spinning tales. Very strange……
Another wonderful performance last night! Thank you Jorma and crew!
The bleachers were lively last night, with lots of amusing comments flying by. They kept the party going during moments of technical difficulties. I’m sure Vanessa was stressed, but no need for that. We’re all in this together – Lots of fun!
Sent in our video snippet of the chorus sing-a-long. Hope you got lots of participation on that one. Should be amazing!

In my whole long life only a few thing dance around my neurons, give me a shill, and touch me deeply. These I treasure them. One of those is your playing. You’re an American treasure Jorma. Thanks.

Please include a mention of the passing of Little Richard. His uniqueness shined throughout his career.
