So we had a six hundred some mile trip yesterday and I have to say, driving a 17,000 pound RV is not as relaxing as a trip in our truck. That said, when we got to Ridgefield, I had my house with me. I’ve been ‘camping’ with this rig, but this is my first road trip.
A good night’s sleep, a healthy breakfast and I’m good to go.
Since I’m actually on the road working I won’t be at the Fur Peace Ranch tonight for Quarantine Concert Series #24. Jack and I and the team thoughtfully recorded tonight’s show earlier in the week.
So if you’re not coming to my show in Ridgefield tonight, give a listen. If you are, you can catch an archived replay when you get home. I had hoped I would be able to chat on the feed, but I’ll be doing my second show then. Fortunately, Mr. Casady and Mrs. Kaukonen will keep the chat alive.
Well, here it is 0858 in Connecticut. I think I’ll seek out socially distanced sustenance.
PS There is a purchasable live stream from Tupelo tomorrow night. I can’t embed the link for some reason, but I’m sure you can find it on the web if interested.
When you have the time can you post the Ridgefield setlists? Thanks for making the trip to CT. It was my first show in 228 days…
@carey georgas
I hear the correct hand position these days is 9 and 3..Reason because of Air Bags in the steering wheel. If your hands are at 10 and 2 more chance of you hitting yourself in the face..Yikes!!!
I woulda bet you weren’t a “10 & 2” driver, less’n conditions call for it. That driving posture is pretty much the one I assumed in my RV’ing, long haul driving days. Looks like a mighty comfortable ride.
Looking good behind the wheel of your new bus. Thanks so much for the Saturday night show. That was really nice of you and Jack and the crew to tape a Q show for us. Especially was surprised by “Song from the Stainless Cymbal”. One of my favorites, the version on Hoppkorv is awesome.
Sorry forgot to mention thank you for the hot “WALKIN BLUES” in number 24..
So nice to see and hear you and Jack again, so looking forward to Justin joining the both of you on stage.
Be Well…
🙂
You go Captain….
Happy to see you out on the road again….
Safe Travels
🙂
Joe judging from the picture provided, it looks like there is plenty of head , hip, shoulder and knee room. Leg room looks sufficient though the thigh support looks a bit short. All in all it looks like a fine ride to be shooting back and forth to the coast in. Drive safe and stay awake. See you in December. @Joe K
Great show in Ridgefield Jorma. So intimate. And it was great meeting and chatting with Myron. I’ve really enjoyed his musical contributions to the quarantine shows. Interestingly I just realized that last live music I saw was Hot Tuna at Town Hall. Great bookend of shows. Thanks
BTW, been meaning to say “thanks” for keeping the livestreams available after they are no longer live. As things have opened up a bit, it’s harder to make the time on Saturday at 5PM (PT), but it sure is nice to be able to pick up the show I missed at some time later in the week. So, THANKS!
Jorma 1st What was the play list for the ride?
2nd You seem to be above average in height so how comfortable is this ride you’re in. Leg room?
Stay safe in your travels. Everyone else pleas mask up
Hey Jorma – hope everything went well – sorry to have missed it – Drive safe, stay safe – Jim
Welcome to the RV world, Jorma … the only way to travel … Ride Jefferson Campervan, get you there in time … Frank
Hey Frank… I can’t believe it took so long. I love traveling in this thing. Just cooked dinner and washed the dishes. Going to sleep in my own bed. Good times.
Looks like our good friend Arlo is hanging out the “Gone Fishing” sign (www.Arlo.net). I guess the NY State Thruway is closed. Enjoy your time on the road Captain (is that a class A RV ?)
I only saw Jerry Jeff Walker once, and only because he was the opening act for a show at the Capitol Theater in Passaic, NJ, sometime in the early ’80s. It might in fact have been a Jorma show but I can’t remember.
Thanks to you and Myron for making the trip to the Northeast. The Ridgefield show last night was awesome. Tanks for playing Water Song. Stay safe and watch out for crazy drivers. See you in December in New Jersey. P.S. Dr. Rob the Dermatologist said to say hi.
I was at early show and it all just felt so good, thank you Jorma!! Been a while since I saw a whole set solo Acoustic Jorma, the sound was pure as was the under the tent in the parking lot vibe. Great song selection.
Bye, there, buckaroo. RIP Jerry Jeff Walker.
I just couldn’t resist. Just finished reading your book. After hearing about the origins of the Kaukonen clan, you should call your blog Cracks in the “Finnish”. I’m sure you’ve heard this before!
Awesome show tonight in Ridgefield Jorma. We saw the evening set.
Great to see you out on the road again.
LIVE MUSIC!!!!
Thanks so much Brian.. It’s hard to adequately tell you what it meant to me.
I use to have problems like that with my 30″ Itasca Sunrise. I a Michelin dealer in Colton, Kalifornia and after correctly bolting the antisway bar in place and it just so happened to be the top front end men on the West Coast. I’m also debating on whether I should lighten the rear end by replacing the regular bed with an EXPENSIVE, long lasting air mattress with a 4″ Temperpedic foam topper. We’ve driven that beast from SoCal up to Manteca then stopped in a nice RV park in Alpine Utah. Now the reason to this post is the next section of driving, up the 20 in Idaho. This WAS a 4 lane road but they were redoing 2 lanes at a time. There was a 12′ to 18′ on my right side. The Beast we call “Breakwind Mobile” did not weave or twitch one way or another, otherwise we WOULD have flipped on our side i.A good front end mechanic is worth thier weight in Silver, that’s because that is what we mine here in Nevada. You won’t need to drive your’s this far though, the rv sleeps six plus a queen bed in the back bedroom. If you’re in the Carson City, Minden, Gardnerville area just give me a buzz 😉
Jorma spreading rock and roll religion door to door…
Tonight is pester Jack on the chat feed night at the ranch…
ROAD TRIP! Have fun, stay safe and keep it rockin! m
