Our daughter Izze and some friends got together in front of a friend’s house and, standing six to eight feet apart sang her Happy Birthday. That’s what I’m talking about. Now she’s hiking in the woods. Over the weekend I did some hand mowing in the yard.
Took a while to get it started, but it did start!

My grandparent never threw anything out and never got new furniture, no matter how uncomfortable the old pieces might be. When they passed away in the early 70’s these chairs went to mom and dad and pretty much lived in the garage. When mom and dad passed away in the late 90’s they came to live in our garage. They have now gone to live with our friend Maureen and hopefully they’ll find a place in her Air B ‘n B. That’s progress.
Sunday was Vanessa’s birthday and she and Izze and I went to town an went for a socially distanced walk by the cherry blossoms by the river and then, it being such a beautiful day I came home and took a drone tour of the empty Fur Peace Ranch environs.

Today our videographer Andy Walla came by as well as my good bud Myron Hart and we set things up in the Fur Peace Station for a live streaming concert that I’m planning to give from the FPR stage this Saturday night. That would be the fourth of April. I’ll be sure to keep you all posted on this and to make sure that you have have the correct link. I’m very excited about this. Even though our theater will be empty I’ll be playing from the stage, using the PA etc. etc. I hope you will be there to hear me play and probably blather on.

That has been the earworm I have been struggling with the past couple of weeks …
Life’s circumstance finds my wife and me hunkering down in an apartment in Pearland, Tx, part of the Houston Metroplex. This fish is way out of water and my country home place is not an option at this time. My garden now consists of a tomato plant, two pepper plants and some herbs in pots on a little spot of a porch. The only jungle I see is asphalt. Unintended consequences are a mofo, but adjust we must. Thanks be for my guitar. Good time to be a beginner. Plenty, plenty, plenty time to practice, and boy, I’m still having fun learning. There’s a little Asian market we frequent when we need ingredients you won’t find at a Kroger. Well, turns out they had plenty of other ingredients you won’t find at any Anglo supermarkets or pharmacies – all the hand sanitizer and TP a body could use. Gallons of 100% isopropyl alcohol. All of my favorite Asian restaurants are closed, no take out, either. Just closed. Other ethnic eateries are open. Support an Asian business like you would any other. If we fight irrational fear with common sense, we’ll be rewarded with little discoveries like I made yesterday. Now, for a small handlers fee, I can get all the hand sanitizer you need right down at the corner market. Sheesh, I need a walk in the woods bad!

When i had a carb issue with my lawnmower a couple of years ago, the repair guy said to use 93 octane, name brand gas; to put some stabilizer in it as soon as i get it; and not to use last season’s gas this season because it shouldn’t sit around for too long. He also said that Ethanol screws things up but that seems unavoidable. I also get a smaller amount of gas and buy it more often so it doesn’t get too old. And i change the oil at the beginning of each season. Last year, this approach worked okay. Hopefully it will this year, too.
I have been using pre mixed gas from the can with NO ETHANOL for my small engines like with a leaf blower and such..Ethanol does havoc on small engines and also on my 1965 Tbird..Wish they sold ethanol gas here in NY at the pump..Maybe in Ohio?
Ethanol is a waste now that gas prices are down but we can thank the corn lobby in Washington..
I try to only use Top Tier gas and only the highest octane available. What the heck?

I told a friend the other day I can’t wait to sit at Sox park, chomping down a polish smothered with grilled onions, and a cold one. Little things we take for granted in life take on a new meaning. What a treat to be able to hear you on Saturday!
Amidst all the worry and crags and fissures…some good news. A neighbor 4 doors down had there house up for sale for about three months. They moved in about two years ago and although we didn’t get together much, several neighbors I talked to were bummed they were moving. They have a 4 year old son, Noah.
They took the sign down about two weeks ago and I finally got to ask him what’s up. He told me his wife was pregnant and they had found a bigger house. For now at least, they are staying put – but when his twin daughters make their appearance in 6 weeks, they probably will need a bigger house! How exciting to see two baby girls on our block. i don’t know who said it, “But babies are God’s waying of saying the world should go on.”
Maybe a request for Embryonic Journey this Saturday??!!

How’d you get that lawnmower started…what’s the trick? I’m wrestling with mine again this year and it’s getting more than tiresome and frustrating! I am at the point now where I am ready to invest in a cordless battery powered mower….
Dropped the float bowl and sprayed a mixture of carb cleaner and ether spray start.

I Got up at 6 AM to be the first on line for the 8 PM show -by noon the line circled around the block.Me and my date sat front row -middle seats and you played at my trquest Water Song then Genesis. My date was over the moon ……so afterward well lets just say i got 2 birthday wishes that night! i never got the chance to thank you -So THANKS Jorma.

I love to see you mowing your lawn, but please consider getting a big hat to keep skin cancer at bay. I worked outdoors on farms for years with nothing more than a baseball hat, and I’m paying the price 40 years later. I would suggest a ten gallon model like the one Hoss wore on Bonanza.
