Well I guess there’s not much new except more cases of the virus. It’s somewhat easier for us to be distant here at the Fur Peace Ranch, as you can see. I’m not complaining, much… but it would be nice to see the outside world again, from my car or dare I say, a stage. More will be revealed I’m sure.
Nessa and Izze and I have been paddle boarding. We’re fortunate to be surrounded by little lakes here and it seemed to me that paddle boarding would be a good thing to undertake to maintain my balance skills as I meander into dotage.

I won’t be skating again… that train has left the station. When you fall off the board… it doesn’t hurt. I’m consumed!

Jack and I are getting ready for #13 of the Quarantine Concert Series and I’m thrilled to have him back in our lives for at least a little bit. I’ll take the win.
The oppressive heat has put a motorcycle ride on the back burner and even the paddle boarding has to be done early in the day. Ah, heat and humidity… the Ohio summer way,
Well, I’ve got a Zoom Class to teach tonight… Jack and I will catch you all on the small screen tomorrow.

All of Sammy’s drumming on “Burgers” was exquisite.
Sammy Piazza was a heck of drummer and a super nice guy.
My first Hot Tuna concert was in April 1973 on Long Island.
It was Jack, Jorma. Papa John and Sammy.

@CareyGeorgas- That was at Jack’s intro to Great Divide Revisted. I was/am mesmerized by that! I have been humming and listening to it all week!
Man, that was something to see Saturday night. I don’t even remember the song, but when Jorma said to Jack, “Do that again. I like it”, all I saw was two old friends making music for themselves. If anyone else was listening,fine. If they weren’t, fine. It was as if everything melted away, and it was just two guys, oblivious to everything except that moment, doing what they love. A documentarian might have to make 10 edits to achieve what was conveyed in that single moment. These shows are a service to mankind in a time of strange darkness. To me, anyway. Every weekend, I got some place to be and something wonderful to look forward to when I’m there. Definitely helping me cope. Thank you so much.

Highway song was a huge treat. It, plain and simple, is a great song. The song on Burgers is the epitome of the word synergism. I’ve said it before, but Sammy’s drumming on that song is at a level 10.
Yet Jack and Jorma, sans Papa John’s filthy fiddle, the drums and Crosby’s voice, sort of blew me away on Saturday. On a night when my facial muscles were cramping from unmitigated joy, that song brought forth the biggest smile of all.
Actually, I think the word synergism encapsulated the entire evening.
For goodness sake Jorma, kidnap Jack!
Did I hear that correctly? (Though I guess I can go back and check). Jorma and Jack had never played Highway Song together live? That is extraordinary. I can see how the vocal would be a little challenging, because of David Crosby’s harmony part on the studio version. But Jorma as usual handled it with aplomb. What a special privilege these last two weeks have been.
First off, thanks Jack for driving all the way from California to Ohio. The show last night was magical. From Serpent of Dreams to Hamar Promenade to Genesis, the setlist was superb. Thanks so much to Jack, Jorma and the FPR family. These Quarantine Concerts are a big help. Have a safe trip back Jack.

What a great day yesterday. Last day of work before retirement starting today (woot woot). I’ve worked for LabCorp the last 5 years and this pandemic has just made the work unbearable. Coming home to celebrate with the 2nd consecutive week with Hot F’n Tuna Live on my TV. Priceless. These concerts have been outstanding on a weekly basis. To see Jorma play week after week has been such a treasure and to be able to appreciate the depth of his talent (along with John and Myron) has been eye opening. Can’t thank the whole crew enough for doing this for us fans.
And then the icing on the cake to have Jack drive across the country to do that for us, amazing. The musical interplay between you two guys is magical.
Have a safe trip home Mr. Casady. Hope we get to see the two of you playing together again as soon as possible.
Last night’s concert was exquisite Jorma!
It instantly becomes one of my best Tuna experiences. I was in tears most of the time, tears of joy. It seemed you & Jack relaxed into the format. Listening to you point, counter point each other is what made me a dedicated Tuna lover 45 years ago. Great Divide Revisited captured me. Highway song, marvelous!

I will confess a tendency to take riskier chances, though the nature of the risk has lessened with age. Speed and heights. Always loved ‘em both. Taught my kids and teach my grandkids to wear PFD’s, model it when we’re together. My wife’s cousin went fishing with a buddy on Toledo Bend Reservoir on a cold day. Wind came up, boat got swamped, they both got pulled out with their PFD’s on. Hypothermia got them. Anecdotal, I realize, but still, you just don’t never know.

Protect the hands and fingers and wear the PFD, even if your son and daughter are not around. Dude….you made it this far…No slip ups allowed Jorma.

Nice pictures jorma.Wondered if you hear coyots from time to time? Also are these little lakes home to walleye or bluegill? Just a thought but with the downtime you might wanna check into that. Thanks for all the music….

Paddle boarding is certainly good for the core and balance. We go to Burt Reynolds park here in Jupiter just off the Loxahatchee River (and maybe catch some Seafood Fritters at Guanabana’s). A good to way to clear your head for sure, looks like your vest is strapped to your board (works better when its strapped to you). Cant wait to catch Jack and Jorma part duex. Stay Safe and Be Well
Ah, yes, the humidity. A commonality our regions share. Without it, you wouldn’tve had the opportunity for that beautiful morning woods shot, though. Even with today’s heat index at 110, I’ll take the humid environment over the arid one. I like the abundance of flora and changeable weather that goes with it.
I wear the life vest when the boat’s under power, otherwise, I trust my swimming skills enough that as long as something near me is floating, I’ll make it. Never paddle boarded before, but might have to give it a try. Looks like excellent geezer-friendly agility training. I believe I’d take the risk of falling off against the reward of unrestrained motion. Looks like you got plenty floaty stuff around if you fall off. Can’t hardly wait for 7:00 tomorrow evening to come around!
Water is cool! Not sure if this message will find you before Saturday night but I have been been spinning Jack’s solo CD (Dream Factor) a lot lately. Hard to believe it is was released 17 years ago. It is timeless and an outstanding disc with top-notch cuts from start to finish. Loaded with awesome bass, of course, and great guitar work by you and Warren and super vocals throughout as well (i.e. late great Paul Barrere). I really love “Sweden” with your soaring and stinging guitar work and Fee Waybill’s strong vocals. I finally got to see the Tubes last year in Richmond at the Tin Pan where you’ve played a couple times. They were great…Prairie Prince on drums and Roger Skeen on guitar were just plain masterful. They paid a nice tribute and love out to Vince Welnick. And Fee can still belt ‘em out with pure spirit and conviction. Since Jack is mic’d now I’d love to hear his reflections on that album and if you guys still keep in touch with Fee? Appreciate all you guys do!
Awesome to see you out on the water. Sorry to get preachy here, I encourage everyone who ventures over water more than 3 ft deep to seriously consider wearing a personal floatation device. There’s a reason they call them ‘life preservers’, and they make nifty inflatable ones that aren’t that uncomfortable. I wear mine every time I’m in the boat, using the theory that it’s like a seat belt: by the time you need it, likely too late to put it on. Stay well, and thanks for a Double Dose of Jack this weekend, too! m

No argument about that… you’re right. If the kid was with me I would have been wearing it. Like my buddy in the rescue business says, ‘I never pulled a body out of the water with a PFD on.’
