Lovin’ it – 5 of the Jefferson Campervans were VWs!
Can anybody say “Richard lll”?
Sad news from Tampa. Skippers Smokehouse for sale, owner retiring. His hope is to find a buyer who’ll keep it a music venue.
Nice to see you on John Lennon 80th birthday tribute

Would love to see you one day play Volunteers with Ms Smith. People have the power indeed.

Corona is coming back…Beware of the lung choke devil…
My little piece of dirt is located on a bird migration flyway, so springs and falls see birds from all over passing through. Right now the hummingbirds are on the move. I’ve got 3 feeders and blooming hibiscus and antique rose bushes outside the window. The aerial show those little suckers put on is something else. Got about 10 out there now flying formations and dive bombing like little Fokkers. Ahhh…the simple pleasures…
@Jorma
Thanks so much, Jorma.
Besides the incredible amount of free music you’ve given us, you’ve been so gracious (and patient!) in answering so many questions. Really appreciate it.
OK Captain, the next time you play at The Beacon with Larry Campbell and Jack, I’d like to hear Wild Turkey…..jus’ for ole’ times sake.
Good morning, Jorma.
What brand of finger picks do you use? And what do you see as the merits of a plastic thumb pick vs. a metal one?
Hey Ed
I use a Jim Dunlop Medium plastic thumb pick and Dunlop .025 brass finger picks. I’m not fond of metal thumb picks and it’s definitely not my sound. Personal choice, of course. I like the brass finger picks over the steel… again, choice and sound.
Stay well…
BTW with Vanessa’s help on the chat I resolved my confusion with the release of “The River Flows”. For anyone as confused as me (if thats possible) the original Record Store Day was delayed due to COVID and split into two days. One was Saturday and the other is in October (nice release of Yardbirds Roger the Engineer). Black Friday Record Store Day is Black Friday (Duh) and the releases are not on the Record Store Day site yet (so if your local record store doesnt know about it yet, thats why). At least I think I got that right.
Was that photo taken at Saratoga performing arts center (SPAC) a few years ago?
Nope Andy… Hardly Strictly Bluegrass San Francisco a couple of years ago.
@Brian Sullivan
Great stuff, Brian. Thanks. My wife and I are big Jeopardy fans. We always record the episodes and watch later, so I hadn’t seen that yet. Glad someone got the question correct. Don’t you hate it when there’s a question that reflects basic cultural literacy and no one knows the answer?
Such a great picture of the three of you..
Can’t wait till you are all together again..
Stay Safe

Jorma you have finally arrived, having your band referenced on Jeopardy. Congrats!
ah………V#2…spectacular. Thank you.
Loved seeing Blacky
Missed last night’s show but was there in person when it went down…it was a classic! I’ll tune it in again this week. Curious if you caught the livestream earlier this week from Sue Foley/Mike Flanigin/Adam Ahrens when they went live from Room 414 of the Gunter Hotel in San Antonio with a tribute/honor to Robert Johnson? That’s the room he recorded many of his cataloged tunes. It was a pretty cool show…and might still be available on Sue Foley’s FB page. I’ve been a long time fan of Sue Foley and hope that If/when FPR ever opens again for concerts that you can book her. She is super cool and a great electric (and acoustic) player. And, until that night I had not been aware of Adam Ahrens…he is a great finger style blues player out of Austin, Texas….check him out sometime. Stay healthy and keep on keepin’ on!

Back in ’78 a friend drove one of those VW’s back East from New Mexico for his wedding. During the reception he asked if I would drive it back West for him while he & the Bride went on their honeymoon to Cancun. Like being the good guy i said yes.I picked up a friend of theirs who was heading back to Arizona early next morning. When we stopped for gas West of Pittsburg the VW didn’t start. I had to park it on a incline every stop so to pop the clutch to start it. The girl who was riding with me had no clue about a standard trans. Thank goodness it only took 2 1/2 days to get there.
Carey- my fellow luddite, you can do it! I did!
Marty Balin. Gone two years …..never forgotten. RIP brother.

They picked up the hitch-hiker with bandana and hippy threads in the desert and drove in to the starry starry night…The stories he would tell would change their lives…Easy Rider…A road trip to tours of the past and a rock world long gone…A lone traveler…Someone they once knew…
Whatta foto, nice !!!
Hell, at least you know how to get on the chat. I’m technologically hobbled. I’m proud I can just get myself tuned in (anachronism in play).
