So Myron and I had a spirited run from Pomeroy to Connecticut to New Hampshire and home… 1700 some miles. Some interesting weigh-ins on the RV… or Hawke as we affectionately call her in the comments section. I’ve been driving for 65 years as of this year. I might have profiled at some other point in my life but with a 17,000 pound vehicle and passengers in my charge, this is not time to be hanging out the window. This rig is eight and a half feet wide. The drivers compartment is not that much smaller than a Prevost. That Ford F-35 chassis with a Triton 3 valve V-10 has almost as much torque as my Cummins Diesel. She sh-ts and gits when she has to as well. I should have done this years ago. Anyway, it was a great trip musically and scenically. Strange to say, leaves were still on the trees.
Anyway, as noted, Ridgefield was great and Tupelos up in Derry was awesome as well. They did about 130 shows outdoors this year of which ours was the last.

We drove home 600 and change yesterday and as much as I like my ‘RV King’ there’s no place like the home bunk!
So… this weekend we’ve got # 25 of the Corona Concert Series and I’ll post the link as we get closer to the weekend. In the meantime, stay well…
Wait, there’s more. The Hurl/Kaukonen opus is emerging soon…

We’re over the moon on this one. Don’t be late, they’re limited… limited I say.
Well, I learned a very expensive lesson this spring, “Always make sure you totally drain the water heater tank”, I have to find a replacement now and do the work myself because I didn’t keep the RV Warranty policy up. @Jorma, don’t get caught like I did, if nothing else put a couple of heat lamps under the coach. A nice snap on/Snap off skirting around the bottom will also keep things from freezing. Don’t be a Dale, drain your water heater tank for winter
Nice rig Jorma – much bigger than any of the Jefferson Campervans. Next stage is to channel your inner John Steinbeck and make some trips in preparation for writing “Travels with Maverick”! Frank, Taylor and Odin.
Just a quick note Jorma, it was a BAD ASS operation and it is healing but nothing makes it feel better then listening to you play “Water Song” and “Embryonic Journey”. I never realized just how much you inspired my early music. Rock on Brother and try to keep time with Jack’s eyebrows 😉
Wow she lived to be 100. Almost as great an accomplishment as any human can achieve. God bless her.
I saw that you did a gig in Derry NH. That’s the hometown of Adm. Alan B. Shephard – first American in space and one of twelve humans to actually walk on the moon. When he made his first sojourn into space in 1961 the people of Derry almost renamed the town SPACE CITY, that is until they grabbed a hold of themselves and cooler heads prevailed. I had the privilege of meeting the great man when I ran into him in the parking lot of QVC next to the UPS center where I worked in West Chester PA. He was hawking astronaut trinkets on QVC. It was a thrill to shake the hand of a true explorer. Almost as good as meeting Magellan.
@john o
Thanks….I did not realize that she had passed. She seems to have been an amazing woman.
Madame Chiang passed away at 100 in San Francisco.
Read the story about her in the NY Times.
@Susan
Thank you, Susan. Now my addled brain recalls. I was getting it confused with a lady he’s spoken of who owns a Thai restaurant out there. When I read the post you referred, it all came rushing back at me like a hot kiss at the end of a wet fist, to quote Nick Danger, Third Eye.
@carey georgas
It did with me…..see Jorma’s post from 10/9/19!
Just finished an article in the Washington Post about Cecelia Chaing, who redefined Chinese cooking in America, opening her first restaurant, Mandarin, in San Francisco in 1961. Does that ring a gong?
Amen, brother Ed. A public service nonpareil.
A big thank you in advance for #25. Things are getting darker these days, and it’s a real lift having the concert to look forward to….When we’re past all this, I will never, ever forget what the Fur Peace Ranch crew has done to help me and so many others get through it.
Stay well.
Will any Diane di Prima tales be revealed this weekend.
Was she in the crowd with the Russian Babuskas when Jefferson Airplane played with the Russian poet?
Just wondering
Peace✌🏻️❤️Love All Ways🔥🚲🌹🙏🏻🖖🏼
Great looking ride Jorma and those set lists are awesome. We still have leaves on the trees here in N.J. that are awaiting the first Nor’Easter of the season to knock them down. Stay safe and we will be out there when you return to our little patch of paradise.
Glad you made it home safe and sound! And thanks for a real swell time in Ridgefield! We saw the evening show(loud surprise political parade and all-Yikes!!) and watched the stream when we got home for a nice double dose Saturday. Can you please post the setlists for Ridgefield? Thanks again and hope to see you soon.
Jorma when I would see an RV outside a venue you are playing at it was a rental and this is your first RV purchase?
Hope it serves you well and like they used to say Happy Motoring…
Yup… good times
