I haven’t owned a vinyl album in over 40 years, but I had to go out and buy The River Flows on Black Friday, 2020. I also bought a cheap 6-in-1 turntable to play it on. Well since then, I’ve accumulated over 3 dozen assorted albums and upgraded to a decent turntable. The wife and I are playing The River Flows (still our favorite!) while we eat dinner tonight and we’re loving it! Looking forward to volume 2!

    Peace to all!

@Mikie Tuna tends to show up on Deep Tracks. If your subscription gets you streaming the Jam channel also plays Tuna, but that channel isn’t on the radio service

Well, Golll-leee! Where on XM did you find Tuna, JohnB? I just got a new-to-me Ridgeline with XM and I’m on trial listening period now. I do enjoy the Dead channel, Willie’s roadhouse and the classic vinyl stations. I’ve wondered why Jorma / Tuna doesn’t have their own setting. Or, is there one? thanks, m

Surprise , surprise , surprise ( Gomer Pyle) I turned on XM radio and started turning the dial and at the last second caught the words Hot Tuna ….whoa Nellie , I was just in time to hear Don’t You Leave Me Here off of the acoustic LP from Orleans House . Long live Hot Tuna !

    Another GREAT QC !!!

Police Dog Blues !!! One of my all time favorites. Souvenirs and two more stellar song choices by Mr. Hurlbut ! He can sure pick ’em ! (no pun intended)

As the pandemic persists, the QC series remains the highlight of my week.

Thanks again to Jorma and the FPR family for bringing light in these dark times !!!

The value of the Quarantine Series is inestimable to a fledgling guitarist like me. Saturday’s rendition of True Religion opened the door into a world of fingerpicking that I thought unattainable for an old fart beginner like me. At least, attainable to a degree that would pass as decent. Playing for almost a year by myself sans lessons has been a challenge. Breakdown Way has helped, but watching Jorma play that song, not teaching – but teaching nonetheless, gave me insight into the use of the thumb, and the slow tempo accentuated the use of the fingers, and I could visually follow well enough to at least see the notes the fingers were making sing. Quarantine Series – the gift that keeps on giving.

Was comrade Bernie always wearing the Fur Peace Ranch anti-covid 19 protective face gear or was that recently added? I don’t recall seeing it earlier today .

That was such a fine show. A national treasure, that Jorma Kaukonen. I think it’s been 30 years since I’ve heard a Police Dog Blues! Myron, you were awesome. John, you are a legend in your own right. Vanessa, your devotion to the smooth operation of these shows is beyond sublime. Rock on! Heart felt thank you to one and all.

If, as some view Bark and long John Silver as tired rants they contain many gems we have known and loved over the years. I get the not having Marty puts them in a different orbit but they do have Papa John and some great songs for me.
Feel So Good,Pretty As you Feel,Wild Turkey ( a Thanksgiving Tradition along with Arlo in my house),third Week in the Chelsea and Trial by Fire are all wonderful Jorma and Jack contributions.
Eat Starch Mom rivals Hey Frederick for Rampage Year sounds let loose with Grace. Long John Silver rollicks along nicely thank you Jack! Always loved Lawman maybe because smiling does break the rules. Crazy Miranda, Easter, Aerie, and Milk Train still hold up. Of course I’ve happily listened to Ms Slick count so I’m extremely prejudiced.
Paul – I always enjoyed that cool aid. Miss him and would have loved to hear his continuing the saga of Rose ( the serial killer of republikans) these past four years. Both Bark and LJS have some of his epics. Russell Means autobiography helped me not be a commie dupe. Sandinsta Air Force could drop bombs on Indigenous villages with the best of the Capitalist Pigs. With Mr Kantner I could close my eyes and be in a better world as he sang “ in my world teachers get paid more than baseball players”. Paul Kantner Presente!
Papa John, the man was a joy. Mr Kaukonen did you have any interactions with the young guitarist from his solo band – Kevin “Keb Mo” Moore?
I was truly blessed over the years to see the various members of Jefferson Airplane live. The Quarantine shows have allowed the world to get together and go ride the music, its makes me feel so good. For a moment I can be in Italy with Carlo or Florida, or South Africa or maybe The Lone Star, the Academy, the wherever and sometimes I close may eyes and Paul, Marty, Signe, Spencer, or Papa or some very dear old friends of mine are laughing and dancing right there with me.
Everybody stay well and thank you again for letting me vent.

“Sue Snell sat quietly in the living room of her house, hemming a dress and listening to the Jefferson Airplane Long John Silver album. It was old and badly scratched, but soothing.”

Oh Yes!! the “Quarantine Greatest Hits” is now a double album, and must include that version of “Wooden Ships”. Thankyou so much. Time is indeed measured by tuning into the FPR.

  24. Comment made on January 24, 2021 by Alan R.

The acoustic version of Wooden Ships was worth the price of admission. What a treat! As I was watching I was thinking that the crew might want to consider going back through these Quarantine concerts and picking out the best song versions to issue as a Quarantine DVD. Wooden Ships would clearly make the list. But it’s just one of so many highlights over the last 10 months. Thanks to the whole team for making these shows happen every week.
