The Dog Days of summer are here with morning mist on the lower road.

Morning walks with the Big Maverick… always delightful. Heading down the A-Frame anticipating the arrival of Bill Kirchen and Steve Kimock. I wasn’t teaching this weekend and I wasn’t gigging either so I got a chance to socialize, hang out and just play guitar with pals. The Covid numbers are rising down where we live but we were able to pull of a safe weekend for participants and guests. So far so good.

I got a chance to show off my newest Flammang.

This is one great sounding guitar.

Good looking too!

David is really building some beautiful instruments. Check out his site: Flammang Guitars.

The show Saturday night featured Bill with his trio. Jack O’Dell his long time buddy on drums. To me Jack is that quintessential old-school Chesapeake Bay Area cat that just swings no matter what the tune. Bill brought David Carroll in from Austin to play the upright bass and as my mom would say, this combo rocked! Add Steve Kimock and me and it’s better than well:

Salagadoola mechicka boola
Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo
Put them together and what have you got?
Bibbidi-bobbidi-boo

Cinderella would have loved it!

From left to right: Me with my Gibson ES-345 Stereo, David Carroll on upright, Jack O’Dell clickin’ the track, Maestro Bill Kirchen and The Wizard, Steve Kimock.

Moments being as fleeting as they are, this is one I’ll hold onto.

Stay well!

Biggest clue was it wasn’t even top shelf. Just out of character pic threw me. Best Wishes to the FRP Family. And radio dream streamers. Stay safe everyone!

If one is going to fall or throw oneself off the wagon, one makes sure that the bottle is full and that another full one is nearby. An empty bottle seems consistent with sobriety in my opinion.

Thanks Jorma! I should’ve gotten it. Looking forward to the Live stream. Emailed John. 🤦🏼‍♂️

Totally high jacking the tread but without live chat during the Q shows I know of no other way to communicate. Just a little concerned about Vanessa posing with an empty tequila bottle. I know she deservingly prides herself on her sobriety. Glad to see her looking happy regardless of the context. Yikes

I give thanks to all that is good for Mav-the-wonder-worker, Mav-the-wonder-walker!
And for my own 14 yr old beagle Annie.

Been going back through Nanci Griffith just about everyday since her passing. Truth and Beauty.

“ Deepen in us our love for you today,
so that in all things we may find our good, and the good of others.
    – Lord, lead us to the truth.”

Great Day in the morning to you, mister Jorma

I watched the clip of you playing that beauty on the Flammang Guitars Facebook page. Can’t really tell if it is maple or mahogany. It does sound great.

Dang it! Sorry I had to miss Saturday’s show! BK, JK, and SK all on one stage…had to be fun time and musical magic for sure. I hope that show, in its entirety, shows up on FPR YouTube. Looking forward to Larry and Theresa on 9/11/21. As an added bonus that weekend, I was able to score tix to Taj Majal at Stuart Opera House the night before. I love music!

Primeval, that view up the hill looks. Loverly photo. Hope everyone up your way stays safe. In my rural East Texas county, 26% of total population vaccinated, COVID is rampant, particularly in the school system. Our pandering governor, backed by one of, if not the only elected state supreme court in the country, has banned mask mandates. I digress. The new Flammang looks beautiful. Hope I get to hear it’s beautiful sound straight from your hands to my ears in the not too distant future. Peace.
