Breakfast before the second day at Suneagle.
Well, I’m home… obviously. Busy, busy getting ready for a camp this weekend here at the Fur Peace Ranch! Just taking a little time out to catch up with the blog here.

It was so great to be back out on the road again surrounded by wonderful people.
Meanwhile… back at the Ranch…
Agreed ! @Bob S
Going off topic for a moment: My wife and I just returned home from a road trip to the Fur Peace Ranch. We were there for the Jorma / Radney Foster performance on Saturday night. Jorma was on-point as always. It was a thrill to watch his stellar performance up close and personal. I hadn’t heard of Radney prior to this show, but he is an amazing singer-songwriter. Give him a listen.
If you’ve never been to FPR, you must put this on your to-do list. There is truly something magical about this place, and you can attribute that to Jorma, Vanessa, John and the entire FPR staff! I could go on about each one of them, but suffice to say they make everyone feel like family. Thanks Jorma! We’re already planning our next visit! Peace…
Thanks Bob… your appreciation is… appreciated!
Jorma
Great set lists.
Beautiful pictures – Suzy does such a good job….
Stay well…
🙂
good one Ed.
@eaglesteve
Nice one, eaglesteve.
Crossing Jordan I need not fear, but when it comes to combining steak and pancakes it probably couldn’t hurt if Jesus was the cook as well as the engineer.
Look what I found: (Type is correct)
TRUreligion Steak & Pancake House, Orem, Utah.
Wonder if Jack & Jorma ever ate there?
I need to put in a good word for Lesters Diner on State Road 84 in Ft. Lauderdale where I discovered Biscuits and Sausage gravy and a 14 oz. cup of coffee after moving from NYC in 1978. Lesters survived I-595 construction and the pandemic, it’s like stepping into a time warp
Every time one of these gems goes under, like the irreplaceable Silver Top of Providence, RI, we are all poorer for it.

Philly’s Aramingo Diner is gone, too. Well, I could go on, but I’d need a drink.
It makes me want to cry to see industrialized-fast-food chains … capitalism in its least defensible form … supplant these bastions of local color and venerable American culture.
We still have this wonderful place in South Philly:

And of course, the wonderful Tastee Diner in Bethesda, MD is right out of an Edward Hopper painting:

Preserve, protect, and defend your local diner.
Nothing better then a Pork Roll Egg & Cheese on a Everything Bagel once & awhile.
Hope those tornado’s that caused damage thru central Jersey didn’t affect anyone.
Pork Roll rules ! @Joe K
@Ed
I’m in Ed……
Not for nothing fellows but I was born in Trenton,NJ it’s been Pork Roll for over 70 yrs. You guys must be from North Jersey.
@Mark
You’re a brave man, Mark.
You’ve got me thinking…maybe some of us here who share a love of Jorma’s music and Jersey diners should meet at one…we can talk music and consume vast amounts of caffeine and dead pigs.
@Ed
Yes, Jersey Diners are great and if you don’t like the Taylor ham you may want to try the Pork Roll! In some diners you may be able to find…Scrapple!!! Can’t be beat with pancakes and syrup.
Ding, ding! Table 5 order up!

@Art
You’re right on PA. I ate at Ed’s Diner in Doylestown at the age of 4, and they sent me a birthday present every year for quite a while. Now that’s service.
@Ed: I grew up in PA, lived most of my adult life in NY, and now live in CT, and I would nonetheless tend to agree. NJ diners rule. PA holds its own, though.
@Art
Apologies for the state chauvinism, but having spent much of my life in them I think NJ diners offer the ultimate experience. For example, the Broadway Diner in Summit has “The World’s Best Pancakes” – tough one to top.
At the risk of losing my state citizenship, I do advise that when in a Jersey diner steer clear of the Taylor ham. (Go for the real sausage and bacon.)
Welcome home.
Ditto on Dusty Hill – one of my four favorite bass players (Casady, Lesh, Bogert…)m
That is one fine diner. Years ago I saw a documentary on PBS about diners, and there was a song in the film that went, “The shinier the diner, the finer the diner.” England has pubs. France has cafes. Spain has tapas bars. The USA has diners – our culturally original eating venue.
Know that diner well
Always loved Mr Skaggs singing I’ll be long Gone. Stay well
RIP Dusty Hill.
Peace✌🏻️❤️Love All Ways🔥🚲🌹🙏🏻🖖🏼
Hi Jorma,
It was great to see you and the guys again. I’m pretty certain that you played “Angle Island” at the end on the first set Friday night at Suneagles. I shouted that suggestion. What followed was an unforgettably moving version. I’m looking forward to the next show at Count Basie.
See ya soon.
