Electric Hot Tuna’s last road gig

Just a hair over a year ago we played our last road gig at River City in St. Louis. David Bromberg and his guys were with us. (I stand corrected, Tuna soloed at the Casino. Memory is a fragile thing. :)’

The boys, on stage…

We headed for home after the show… and then, like everyone else, it was all gone!

Just a little remembrance with hopes for better things on down the road for all of us.

Zei gesundt!

It looks like the last show with Bromberg was actually February 29th in Boulder. That was the night when some people were upset about the sound. Man, that looks even dumber in hindsight!
As you said at the end of that Cracks in the Finish, “Tuna here in KC, MO tonight and off to St. Louis. We’re gonna miss David and his pals for sure. Safe trip home guys!”

We were sorry to miss David but we got an extra 5 or 6 Tuna songs as compensation. It was awesome.

That was such a great show. Our last outing before the big shutdown.

Jorma, there’s just one thing…we were there, and I can assure you that David Bromberg and his band were not! Their last show with you on that run was the previous night, so there was no opening act.

Thanks for adding to my knowledge, who knew this site could be so educational !! To think all that time spent at the racetrack and I had it wrong. Champing at the bit for a second chance to catch Jorma (with Jack now) in Delray (maybe Melbourne too)
Glad to hear your neighbors are being responsible, wish I could say the same for my neighbors in Palm Beach County (luckily most merchants still follow CDC guidelines, but outdoors its well, freedom in their minds) Still waiting to get any shot, soon I hope (now that all of the DeSantis donor group seems to be done)

And speaking of July 4, I wonder what the founders would say about people who defined “liberty” as the right to indulge themselves and endanger their fellow Americans in a time of national crisis.
    Just wonderin’!

The last Commander-in-Chief’s legions of lemmings actually followed one another into the sea for him on COVID and other misinformation he bamboozled them with. At least the new one is trying to solve the problem in an informed and methodical way. I hope he succeeds for everyone’s sake.

It does look like things are loosening up out there regarding live music as you have added shows in Florida , Acoustic Hot Tuna, New York state and New Hampshire shows for you. Wasn’t it great that our Commander In Chief last night said that if we are all good little lemmings that perhaps by the 4th of July Americans may be able to get together with their friends and families. What a guy…..

Alright, alright, alright! Matthew McConaughey is seriously considering a run for governor of Texas. Tell ya one thing, couldn’t be no worse than what we got.

Went to the supermarket today and I was encouraged to see only 4 people out of a couple hundred not wearing masks. Wouldn’t it be great if a mandate is no longer needed to foster public health? I am encouraged.

We were lucky enough o catch your last show at the Riverport Casino. Who knew we were to embark on this long, bizarre journey? The vaccines are finally arriving in quantity and maybe this will be a summer of music once again.

Hey Dan, ever watch Billions? One episode had a funny little dialogue about the use of “chomping” vs. “champing” at the bit in a political speech to blue collar workers. The politician cited some literary passage to justify “champing”, the campaign manager said basically, the people don’t talk like books, better use “chomping”, which he did to resounding applause. Words. Gotta love ‘em.

You must be chomping at the bit to get back to live audiences (I see the fall/winter tour posted, could be a good time to head north). Certainly the Quarantine Shows have connected me to an extended family, always a treat when you guys are on the chat with us. My many thanks for all you guys do for us. Hope you guys can keep some Dream Streaming alive when the road calls. RIP Pigpen 3/8/73 https://www.jambase.com/article/ron-pigpen-mckernan-1970-acoustic-solo-set , makes me think Pig would have had a great time on the FPR stage

My last three shows in 2020 were: Last Train Home in Richmond in early January (reunion show), then caught Joe Bonamassa in my old hometown of Cleveland on March 6th (first time seeing JB live…great show), and then flew to NY and met my big bro and an old-time OU college buddy from NY for The Brothers show at MSG on 3/10/20 (an epic show if there ever was one). The world shut down a few days later. Well, if those were my last live shows then so be it…they were all awesome.

I am checking to see what local venues up this way have on their schedule for this spring and summer and a few of them in and around the Garden State have plenty of shows booked. What are you hearing Jorma as to what chance we have for live music again ? There are still some piles of snow around up here but with temps expected to top out in the mid 60s later in the week I am ready to move on and put this covid BS behind me. Please keep us posted.

Another year done gone…and no way would I have made it through without Jorma, the entire crew, and all the brothers and sisters out there who have provided me with the best extended family ever.
    Thank you to everyone.

Geez, it’s been a long, hard ride this past 12 months !!!

Your two shows at the Boulder Theater with David and the boys were my last live shows and were the ideal bill IMO. The world closed 2 weeks later !

I have serious live music jones which has been satiated only by the QC series !

Can’t wait to see you in person again…

Well, that may have the last Hot Tuna show, but it was not the final Hot Tuna show (imho). Maybe you can find a way to transition from “quarantine” shows to “vaccine” shows. Step right up, folks, got your shot? Get a ticket! Come April I’d be in that line!
