Awesome sound and great folks down here as always. Getting ready to drive home and try to beat the coming storm. I remind myself that it is still winter. 🙂
Now… tomorrow on Fur Peace TV:
Well, if it weren’t good… we wouldn’t put it up. I’ll be on the chat with Vanessa. ‘See’ you there!

Just another one of those pesky senior moments.
Hey Jorma not sure if you’ve ever heard of this young guitarist named Marcin. Just came across these videos today and thought it might interest you. Something to work on before the next QC. Also, apparently parking garages provide some good acoustics.
My Grandfather was from Worcester and some of my Moms favorite summers were spent there ! I doubt he ever heard of J. Geils though and if I asked him what he thought of Magic Dick he may have slugged me ….. @Joe K
J.Giles Band played plenty a night at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Ma. back before they moved to bigger venues.
Jorma, thanks for the mention a few weeks back about the Nicky Hopkins biography. I started it the other day and am halfway through it. It’s interesting and informative. I was familiar with a lot of his work with several groups and musicians but had no idea how many folks he played with over the years. Thanks again!
Yea, I was at that Garden State Arts Center show when the boys opened for Emmylou. Tke last live show I say pre-pandemic was Tuna and Bromberg at the Fillmore here in SF about exactly a year ago now–sad but not forever. Magic Dick doesn’t get talked up enough but he can swing. Years ago in the late 80s/early 90s, he and Giles used to play the Sitting Bull Pub in Maynard, MA and would catch their gigs and came to appreciate his technique that comes through better live than in his recordings.
Well shit fire and save the matches! It’s gonna get colder’n a witch’s tit in a brass bra down here. Looks like I’ll lose my orange trees. Only been cold as predicted two or three times in my life. Reckon I’ll be sticking pretty close to the house. Be sticking even closer to the tv tonight, though! Onward, through the snow!
I was at that show ……@DennisK
Great story. Hope to meet them myself someday. Sad to hear about Chick Corea. Got to see him play withRTF. Amazing
Got to meet Magic Dick & Shun Ng when they played FPR a couple years back. Saw them at the hotel the night before the show. I didn’t want to bother them as they seemed to be at work at a table in the restaurant but I said “hello’” insisted on picking up their dinner tab and treating them to a couple refreshments and left them alone. A short while later they came up to me and thanked me and we had a nice chat. Just SUPER nice folks!
“Whammer Jammer! Lemme hear ya, Dickie! C’mon baby!” I’ll be watchin’!
Yep, that looks like another great setlist. Did Emmylou show up? I would love to hear her sing Too Many Years with you. I remember seeing a great double bill of Emmylou and Hot Tuna at the Garden State Arts Center some years back. I even managed to find one of those event signs from the toll booth.
Keep those lamps…

You’re the Tom Brady of Americana/folk/alt/blues. Leave it on the field says Kaukonen. What of the crowd? Distanced but groovy? Industry colleagues in the house? Tell us?
