Yes… we know it’s QUARANTINE….

You think we’d pick up on the misspelling of ‘Quarantine’ immediately… but it was not to be. Proofreading is tricky stuff as I found with my book, ‘Been So Long. You go over it

and again

and you still miss the most obvious stuff. No matter, the show will be great and I’ll be on the chat feed with Vanessa.

‘See’ you all tonight!

    Where you at, Dale?

@carey georgas, We live in the very south end of the Capitol of Nevada, Carson City. Our Home is actually 2 miles south in the very top of Douglas County, just barely into “The Ponderosa”!!!

Hey Brad. I wasn’t proofing your post, but maybe I was, I don’t know. I saw Deep Elem, and thought , “uh, oh”, bein’ from Texas and all. I did a check before posting, and the wiki says Deep Elem and “Deep Elm” are older alternatives to the East Dallas neighborhood more commonly known as Deep Ellum. It’s got quite an interesting history, especially for Blues aficionados. Grammar and spelling and all that are important, I think, but in the end if the writer’s message is conveyed, so what?

Yes, John you are correct on all counts!
Keeping our fingers crossed that lots of people get vaccinated and we turn the corner on this pandemic allowing for live music shows to return.@John B

Did ya hear the one about the Proofreader who went down to Deep Elem?
Kept his manuscript in his shoe…ba dum dum

I can only imagine how complicated it must have been to proof and edit your own story. The finished product is a choked-full, fascinating read, thank you. 10 years ago I worked as a gardener in Georgetown and spent a lot of time with friends who lived just a couple blocks from Wilson H.S. in your old neighborhood. Like everywhere else I imagine it has changed considerably with a Metro Stop, Starbucks, Holyfoods,, etc. Maybe you and BirthdayJack can write a new song about those early days and call it The Fort Reno Blues?

    Looking forward to Sat night

Where you at, Dale? I’m in the East Texas piney woods. Memphis is the closest Tuna’s been to me since I’ve been on the lookout. Drove plumb to Denver once to see ‘em. I was blessed to get into a show at Fur Peace once. Jorma came to Tomball couple years back. Gotta do the hinterland hustle to catch them.

If we didn’t before, we do now, Dale. Have you been able to fit show(s) in with travel for another reason? I travelled many miles by air first decade of millenium, but shows coincided only a few times. Couple of HT shows in Colorado hit the spot. Walked into an Emmylou sound check and caught Brussells show that night. Brussells is the Newark, NJ of Europe.

I don’t remember , but anyway he was saying ….hold on just a bit longer even you have gotten the shot before letting your guard down along with your mask and please do not engage with big crowds as there will be plenty of time for that in the future…… @Brian Doyle

Isn’t the Egg show part of the tour that was cancelled last summer and moved to this July only to be moved back to the Dec 1st date? Hopefully everything will be okay by then and the show will go on . We have tickets for the Red Bank NJ show with Tuna/Grisman and have our fingers crossed that the show will stick. There are some Jorma shows in NYC coming up and some in NJ come July. Thanks for the heads up Andy . @AndyK

Attention NY Tuna fans: Tix just went on sale this AM for Electric Tuna w David Grisman Dawg trio opening on Dec 1st @ The Egg in Albany.
If you’ve haven’t been to The Egg, it is an absolutely amazing venue. Top notch sightlines, acoustics and comfort. And very intimate (982 capacity).

Had the branding in the lower right corner read “Jorma Qaukonen’s Fur Peace Ranch,” we may have been somewhat more concerned.

Proofreaders Blues is the human brain at its best. The phenomena is the brain expects to see something and fills in the “blanks”, hence why you can look at something a thousand times and not catch the error. If only that would work with my picking hand

I kinda like the alternate spelling, but here’s another (if it hasn’t already been suggested): Quah-rantine series!

Hello Jorma, recently been playing the New Moon Jelly Roll Freedom Rockers (Charlie Musselwhite, Jim Dickinson, Luther Dickinson, Cody Dickinson, and Alvin Youngblood Hart) Vols. 1 & 2 a lot! Great stuff recorded back around 2007 or so and released in last few months. It got me to thinking about Charlie Musselwhite and the show I saw in Newport News, VA a few years back with HT, Charlie, GE and Jim Lauderdale on the same bill…a revue of sorts. It was a great night of music. And with regard to Charlie, I wondered if you ever played with him or crossed paths in SF back in the 60’s? I know Bill Graham had diverse acts on his bills back then but for some reason it seems to me that the SF psychedelic scene ran parallel to the SF blues scene rather than intersecting it as far as jamming together, etc. Second question: did Charlie Musselwhite ever play FPR? I’d ask these questions on the QC feed but don’t know how to do that. Anyway, thanks for all the great music and looking forward to getting back to FPR this year for some live music.

    that’s OK, Jorma….
I used to think your old drummer Sammy Piazza was spelled “Sammy PiaZadora”
What ever happened to Sam anyways?…how great was he recorded on “Phosphorescent Rat”

Yeah… Sammy did awesome work. The parts that he and Jack played on Highway Song is more than nifty.

Having spent about 40 years doing daily journalism I’ve seen quite a few typos, including my own. I find them an endearing reminder that we are all wonderfully imperfect human beings.

  28. Comment made on April 11, 2021 by Dale Radeleff

If somebody is complaining about the spelling they aren’t spending enough time listening to the Qaurantine Concert. #9 was a great concert and I loved every minute of it and NOT just the music, I enjoy the conversations and stories from your Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna past. The Chats on the side are very informative too. which tattoo was it that took 47 hours to complete? Rock on my slightly older Brother, I hope I get to meet you in person some day, I may even get healthy enough to make it to one of your weekend workshops and stay in one of your cabins. Heck, my wife is getting lessons so she may be hooked enough to spend that weekend with me. 🙂

Yeah, and I just noticed I left out the “and” in my first sentence. I have heard that the people who make Persian rugs intentionally sew a mistake into the rug because “only Allah can make something perfect.” I’m sure I would not need to bother with such a thing.

I’m an advertising copywriter was also a political-science professor for a time. My wife was a book editor for a few years and is an excellent writer and a bit of a grammar fanatic. I wrote an article a few years ago for an academic journal and must have scoured the thing 20 times. My wife read it. The copy editor at the journal read it twice. I read it again. And then, a couple of years later, I read the thing in print, and there it was – an obvious typo. I sometimes think to myself, “I’m glad we’re not servicing jet engines.”
