Larry hooked us up with the good folks at Euphoria Studios in Manhattan the day before the Carnegie gig. A truly great place to iron out a few wrinkles. We put in some solid productive time and knew we were ready for the show!

Barry Mitterhoff and I played Zankel Hall a decade or so ago but this was the first time in the big room for fifty years. Jack and I played the big room with Hot Tuna in 1972 around the time that Burgers was released. Urban legend has it that Hot Tuna was banned from the venue for a number of nefarious reasons. I have repeated this story a number of times myself but if pressed for provenance I wouldn’t bet the farm on it. In any case, for us to play this legendary venue was an honor difficult to describe.

Over the last century or so countless truly great artists have graced this stage.

Wow…
What a show! Larry was on point channeling papa. Jack channeled his younger self. And Jorma’s voice and fiery fingers never failed. Theresa was mesmerizing not just the sparkly dress.
Jorma,
Carnagie Hall is such a cool venue!! And all of you were amazing!! I’m still on a high from it!! A fantastic evening of music!!
Bravo and thanks for the burgers!

Jorma’s miraculous performance at the Taj Mahal of music halls has catapulted him into the GOAT category with much help from Jack Casady, without whom it would not have been possible.
@PJK
Agree on understatement. It’s Tuesday and I’m STILL smiling! What a night.
(And as someone who also likes classical music, I’ll put Larry Campbell up against any violinist who ever played Carnegie. Man, was he amazing or what?)
Sounds like a fitting tribute to Hot Tuna legacy, Jorma
The 172 Carnegie Hall show trades in fantastic soundboard quality
We hasn’t this been released by the Tuna camp?…a double cd of the ’72 show & 50th
(donate partial proceeds to Ukraine?)
What an amazing night! Pulling out a couple of tunes from the “Triumphs” set list was a great touch. It was an amazing room and such a great crowd. To say that a good time was had by all would be an understatement. And I got to take my sister to her first Electric Hot Tuna show ever. (She loved it!)
Glad to know you guys enjoyed it as much as we all did.
Paul
Jorma, I lived on Long Island, and the first concert I ever saw in NYC was the April 1972 Hot Tuna show at Carnegie Hall (first row!). It’s been an incredible journey following your music. Congratulations on the return to Carnegie Hall!
Wow youz gize sounded great Jorma!
@mikie
My thoughts, exactly, mikie.
We were walking past Carnegie that morning to check into our hotel next door and saw the signs at the box office. Checked in and raced back to score two floor seats that night. Easily one of the best performances we have ever seen. Thank you so much!
Thanks for such an amazing and special evening to the entire Hot Tuna Family and friends…One of the best !!!
When is the bluray coming out?
Wow, indeed. m
thank you for sharing, Jorma. The Carnegie Hall gig was truly one for the ages! There is nothing like a Tuna show and adding Larry and Teresa, well . . . it was truly epic. This was our first show by anybody in over two years and it was something my wife and I were not about to miss! Thank you thank you thank you. And speaking of the pandemic, can’t thank you enough for what you did with the Quarantine shows, they kept us sane (well as sane as we’re ever gonna get!) Peace
Truly a magical night. If Burgers was not enough the second set was far out too!! Thanks HT and Larry and Teresa for a wonderful night.. And Vanessa was walking in the audience right before show time and we got to tease her for her ID and vaccine card. She laughed and was a good sport for sure…
Thanks for a truly memorable evening !!
