Sunset on the hill…

The passage of time is not always heralded by a fiery sunset. Sometimes life just trickles on until until its passage is barely noted. Sometimes it is fiercely noted until the present requires that it is just time to move one. My friends and colleagues have so far been blessed to still have a future in the current world with obligations that we are still able to fulfill.

These are blessings that cannot be quantified. With this in mind, I look forward to being able to perform yet one more time for our friends out there on the road.

Stay well so we can see you all there…

I applaud the comment about the phones and contemporaneous filming of shows ,really distracting .
Take a shot ,memorialize the event ,and then enjoy the music.
If I wanted the visual experience ,I’d be watching Kiss or Freddie Mercury ( the killer Queen), ,needless to say and not being effete ,we never wasted time to see the genre .

Zignew Brzezinski said without the Ukraine, there is no Russian empire. Not as if we haven’t seen this movie before. Most of the aid being sent is military hardware, so if you’re cynical about western motives, hang your hat on American industrial output and jobs. I think one howitzer shell costs about $10k. Maybe I’m wrong.

Have you had reports of the retired soldiers who stepped up to lend expertise to help keep refugees relatively safe, Mr. K? Newshour had a report on some exploitation going on, and it jogged my memory.

Wasn’t planning on attending any shows this run, but maybe. Thought I’d put it out there that if attendees must film, buy a damn headset camera so I don’t have to look at a smartphone screen instead of band. Please.

Sanibel is depressing…The roads are lined with piles of debris taken from the condos and homes…Luckily the big double debris truck and claw came by on my street and cleared it of the piles of horrible wreckage…I have been slowly cleaning up my yard even though most of my wealthy neighbors hired clearing crews to do the task…I found some of my precious stuff in the mud like my hiking boots that did the entire Appalachian Trail and other stuff I saved…Some of it has been damaged by the corrosive sea water of the surge – like a beautiful Irish sweater my father bought me in Ireland that I would have taken upstairs before the hurricane if I had seen it…I’m plucking stuff out of the mud and hand-cleaning the horrible clay-like muck off it in order to inventory it for insurance purposes…Nasty, dirty, exhausting work…The island is a disaster zone that hasn’t changed much in 2 months…A lot of neighbors have stripped their houses down to the studs in order to rebuild…FEMA and Red Cross have been helping…We are dealing with our windstorm insurance…The surge water mark in the garage is 8 feet off the garage floor, which translates to a 15 foot surge at the beach…

My personal opinion of the Ukraine is that CIA kept its aggressive posture towards Russia after the Cold War even though it promised it would not…The real objective in the Ukraine is Russia’s warm water naval ports in the Crimea that was always a global strategy target designed to weaken Russia in order to bring it in line with Wall Street’s desire to control all world markets…In 2014 the US overthrew the elected leader of the Ukraine and replaced him with an American puppet…The whole idea was another phony color revolution of the same type that had succeeded in murdering arab leaders in their own countries under the “Plan For A New American Century”…US lied saying it would not expand NATO eastward and then proceeded to do that very thing for the purpose of using Ukraine as a vector for the overthrow of Russia and assassination of Putin…Ukraine was attacking and murdering Russian-speaking Ukrainians in the eastern provinces…I have a particular front seat to all this when I saw two 9-11 suicide pilots drive by me on Sanibel with two obvious Intelligence agents following them close behind about 6 months before the attack…So I’m not really sure if we haven’t been fighting this at home for a long time…There was once a noble young president who saw all this and tried to control it…His name was Jack Kennedy…

Jorma, the billions going to ukraine is our hard earned American money. It didn’t just appear magically. It’s all from the same pot. I’m all for not sending anything over there. There is no guarantee it’s making it to the front lines. Ukraine is known to be highly corrupt and I don’t trust Zelenskyy. I’m pretty certain that hundreds of millions are being skimmed for Zelenskyy and the oligarch’s that control him. I’m more worried about China who is even more of a threat to us all. If they attack Taiwan soon we’re in a big pickle.

    @Brian Doyle
How are things progressing on Sanibel? It’s been about a month now. How are you doing? That’s pretty wild when a hurricane comes thru and takes out your house!!!
I still don’t get it, billions for ukraine and zilch for us trying to recover. God bless you and us all.

John… Not one dollar that is being spent in the Ukraine would have found its way to Sanibel. It is not a matter of fighting global aggression or helping with disaster recovery at home. Like it or not there is a proxy war in the Ukraine. This fight must be won or someday it will be fought in our back yards.

Incredible pic! Fall (and spring) are awesome in SE Ohio!

Hope to catch HT on the road soon. In the meantime, wow!!! Last night was an epic show in Richmond with The Last Waltz 2022 tribute. An all-star band led by Warren Haynes, Anders Osborne, and Jamey Johnson paid high homage to The Band’s final concert from 1976. The Levee Horns, Kathleen Edwards, Steady Rollin’ Bob Margolin, Cyril Neville, and John Medeski were also incredible. Highlights: the entire night!!! If you get a chance, be sure to catch this show.

Greg, for the tip on Garth from the 2017 show. I was fortunate to meet Garth and chat with him a bit after a show in early 2000’s when he played with Sneaky Pete Kleinlow in Burrito Deluxe. He was so gracious, humble, and accommodating to all. He stuck around and chatted until the very last fan left.

    Say, Mr K.

I expect upcoming shows will have guitar players standing during acoustic portion of performance. Why is that? Not complaining, mind you. Good luck with run.

Wow! That’s a most singular sunset shot. I saw a photo last week a friend had of the Bastrop fire in 2011 that, minus smoke, was very similar. Your photo is strikingly beautiful. You have been blessed, no doubt, but the other key is in the next sentence: “I look forward…”. That’s the attitude lets the blessings continue to flow. The photo is a metaphor in my mind of the power from which all blessings flow. This blog almost always sets me to thinking about good things. Peace.
