it was a red sky…

And the cold wind and rain followed just like they said it would. Truly, it’s a month or so short of winter but, well let’s just say I don’t see a motorcycle ride in the near future. I’m already creating music scenarios for the West Coast gigs and Denver and really looking forward to the rehearsals and the shows. Hurlbut and I get together two to three times a week to keep the live music alive and having been home home as long as I have this time, I am starting to hear to call of the road again. All that being said Thanksgiving is less that forty eight hours hours away and we have a big family gathering planned. More will be revealed on that front.

This is the way to process reality on a rainy fall day!

Onward… and gobble, gobble, gobble.

Hi Jorma. It is unusual seeing you at home this time of year. Amy and I will be hosting my 98 year old father in law for Thanksgiving. He’s sharp, but doesn’t get around easily. Gratitude abounds.
We had a local festival this last weekend Amy and I play together. We trade off songs/vocals and harmonize a bit. She’s got a voice. This weekend I have two solo gigs in town, both outdoors as are all my stuff. So it’s weather permitting, and doesn’t look so great at this point. It’s tough looking forward to paying gigs only to see them get washed away. I’m constantly working to expand my repertoire. In my Dreams and Waiting for a Train are two of my new favorites. Being retired and playing music beats a sharp stick in the eyeball, if ya know what I’m sayin’.
My old friend Rich Bartle worked for Gibson, and hosted the Jorma trio at NAMM 96′, gifted me an old Chet Atkins years ago, and I broke it out first time in long time last weekend. I needed a 2nd guitar in open Dm. I’m gonna have to find a way to integrate that puppy more often.
Thank you for letting me chatter. I’ll be seeing you @Fillmore in SF, would love to be able to say hello to you and Jack there.
I will be meeting old friends there as well, and so looking forward to that one!

There’s a lot we can learn from dogs. Looks like Chunky is a good teacher. Enjoy

Rarely for me because I’m usually working, but this year it’s Vanessa and Izze, my son Zach and his girl, my sister in law, her son and his girl and sundry four legged friends. We’ll be cooking and eating at the Ranch. I’m betting it’s going to be a good time.

That’s just great, Jorma. I was a daily journalist for 40+ years and usually worked holidays too. Nothing beats being with the kids and family on this holiday = all you have to do is look around the table to see just how much there is to be thankful for.
I’m actually missing two family feasts this year because I tested positive today…but hey, I have a roof over my head as it pours outside, plenty of food and coffee, and a couple of guitars beckoning. Things could be worse. Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Yeah Ed… Me and mine are blessed for sure. If doubt creeps into my mind, I have but to turn on the morning news for about… 15 seconds.

Guitars are always reliable friends as are dogs. In the meantime…

          Stay positive… test negative…
