Indeed, lots of talk about the electric version of our little world taking a break and going fishing for, well… maybe a long time. Of course we have quite a nice electric run starting in September. Check our tour page here at this link. Now, on this subject I guarantee more will be revealed, so stay tuned.
As for the Great South Bay Music Festival at Patchogue. We got there early so i could hear the Kerry Kearny Band with my good buddy Michael Falzarano. Kim Wilson and The Fabulous Thunderbirds showed the blues kids how it’s done and I got to talk to Kim about the time that Nessa’s nephew Nick Curran (may his memory be a blessing) spent with the band. I remember meeting Nick when he was fifteen. He was always the shit! Dave Mason rocked the stage and then it was our turn!

Hi,
Been to tons of shows for 50 yrs in NYC/NJ , now in Fla looking forward to Ft Lauderdale. The quarantine shows on you tube helped us through a tough time…Thanks for playing one of the first post pandemic shows at Monmouth Park in NJ! was a little chilly but great to see you!
The LI show is up on YouTube. I had the privilege to attend the show with my Son whose company was one of the sponsors. Nothing better then spending time with your child who has gone to many concerts with me over time.
Side note one of his courses in college was the History of Rock & Roll.
Next up the Beacon. Till then safe travels to all
I want to encourage people go see Michael Martin Murphey at the Fur Peace Ranch on October 21st. I met Michael some years ago and had a chance to talk with him for quite a while. He’s a really deep cat! His knowledge of the old West, Native American culture and the life of the American cowboy is truly impressive. He has great intellectual curiosity and the ability to translate what he knows into song. Plus, he’s funny! He’s so much more than the guy who had a hit with Wildfire many years ago. Wish we could be there, but travel is off the table for us right now.
Hey Jorma,
I’ve seen some clips from the show , the band sounds fantastic and Jack so spry jumping around the stage!!
We’ll see you in Albany in September for my last electric Hot Tuna concert, the first was almost 50 years ago!! Yikes!!
Looking forward to seeing you soon!!
Jim Tulgan
We’ll see you next week in Grand Junction. If you can, check out the Dalton Trumbo statue in front of the Avalon Theater.
U may find the bird in here somewhere.

Jorma,
You mention Nick Curran.
I have lived in Austin since 76 and have seen a lot of talent grace the clubs here.
Nick was on a whole new level. He could play anything better than anybody. When he played blues or r&b he was untouchable. He had a lot of friends here that helped him till the bitter end.
His memory is a huge blessing!
Stay well and in the groove amigo!
Yeah Roberto… Nick was on a whole new level… one of a kind. Our family will continue to miss him! Thanks for weighing in!
@Frank
That blows my mind!
That’s no coincidence.
Jorma, thanks for confirming. The local historians are pleased to add this to their history.
If Jorma played the 1993 Firebird at the Great South Bay Fest, that makes the final electric show on Long Island at bit more interesting. The guitar original came from Patchogue, a few miles from the festival. Or a stones throw away. I nice way to end the run by playing your final show on a guitar that was local. Wasn’t at the show, so I can’t confirm if he did or didn’t.
I did indeed play the locally sourced Firebird… with pleasure and honor!
Hi Jorma,
Thank you, Justin and Jack (jumping) for rocking the Great South Bay Fest. The weather was perfect. A sea of smiling faces enjoying Hesitation double-time, to electric Bowlegged.
Time marches on, from Commack Arena to now, many of us have loved your music almost our entire lives, so this final Long Island electric bow is fitting for you the artist, and us the fans, as we ‘all’ sail along on the ‘River of Time’. Thanks again to the band and the crew for a very memorable evening.
I almost thought you implied possible west coast electric shows. I’m staying tuned
I don’t recall you playing Roads &Roads &… one of my favorites. Maybe time constraints?….or me having a brain fart 🤣
Phil… you would be right. Myron is letting me down with his on site bookkeeping… I think I have the update right now…
That Great South Bay show was just incredible! We got there early, so our lawn chairs were planted within 20′ of the stage. As you said, the 3 prior acts were phenomenal, and Kerry is a local favorite, but the crowd was absolutely fawning over you guys!
Man, that picture looks like you guys worked up a sweat and had a great time doing it. Can’t wait for the show at Parker Playhouse in October, not real hard to work up a sweat down here at the moment
