I’ve procrastinated long enough waiting to get pictures together for this blog… Enough already. I’ll add them when I get them… Onward!
Both Hurl and I had been looking forward to this gig for some time. We love to play together so that’s a given but the Ohio With Love component upped the ante for us. (See previous entry) Good stuff and we raised a bunch of money.
We also had more than a gaggle of friends staying over on the cabins who shared Sunday Morning Breakfast with Vanessa, John and me.

Words really don’t do justice to moments like this!
Onward….
Just saw on FB that it’s the 53rd anniversary of the live album from the Orleans House! Happy anniversary to one of my favorite albums!!!! And who knew all these years later I’d still be cherishing seeing Jack and Jorma do their thing! Rock on fellas!
My intent was to inspire Vanessa to add her angelic voice to Jormas’ down and dirty pickin’. Happy Mothers’ Day to all Mothers.
Just had another listen. I don’t think there’s audience heard on chorus.
‘Ain’t it Grand Boys: unissued gems of the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem’ is a collection I recently acquired. The last song is a live recording featuring Pete Seeger singing (and on banjo, of course) ‘This Land is Your Land’. It’s the sweetest performance of the song I’ve heard, and the brothers and audience lend a chorus that is also sweetest I’ve heard – on anything. Recorded around 55 years ago. I was both here and there at that time. I got to see and here him sing at Clearwater, with Dar Williams, who he seemed to share a great collegial affection with. I remember you on a bill for a Clearwater festival I did not attend, Jorma. Did you perform with the late, great Pete Seeger? This land? Was it grand?
“Swinging on a star” came to mind, somehow. I was very pleased to find a version by Dave Van Ronk as my first choice. On “Sunday Street”. Great Album.
Loved it. Thanks for putting this on!
“Thank you” ain’t big enough but it will do. m
You guys absolutely killed it. One of the great things about you playing with Hurl is that you get to focus on the playing . . . it is spectacular. As always! Stay well!
Great show last Saturday – and what a great cause!
