Mid August and as beautiful as it is here in Southeast Ohio the wisps of summer’s end are already dancing in the air. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, ‘Life’s like a roll of toilet paper. The closer to the end you get, the faster it goes.’ Our daughter Izze has graduated, has an apartment and a job and awaits college… or perhaps college is awaiting her. My son Zach came to visit for a week and we had big fun. He has a semester left of college. The kids aren’t kids anymore. The sound of the changing of the guard rings in my ears.
Time to take the soft top off my Jeep and go for a drive down to the Fur Peace Ranch. But first…

Yes, the extremely cool two part San Francisco Sounds documentary is dropping on August 20 for the first episode and August 27 for the second. It will be shown on MGM+. I’ve seen the rushes but I’m really looking forward to seeing the final cut. The folks did a truly awesome job on this project. If you weren’t there but want to see how it was back then, this is a stellar entré!
As always, more will be revealed.
Stick around!
Keep up the great work jorma I’ve been reading your cracks in the finish diary for many years now. Breath of fresh air always look forward to a new entry. Graduated H S in 1977 and have been going to see your shows since then 64 years young now. More than a few times have taken my own kids with me hope to make it out to the ranch one day keep it going g
Great post Kevin, I’m close to that age and have seen Jorma more than a few times!
Ah yes, Perseus, slayer of monsters, in a somewhat different guise. All hail Chunky!
First part of that doc tells a cogent story, thanks in no small part to you, Jorma. I’ve spent a few separate weeks in that town. That was during early years of tech boom and influx of pretty women with degrees who moved there to land a catch. One look at my tourist shoes and I was invisible. I would’ve liked your era. Still, great city and nearby redwoods. I caught a Peter Green show and Carlos joined him. Harvey Mandel, too.
I grew up in the W Bronx on a step hill overlooking northern tip of Manhattan, near a veterans hospital. The Vietnam War was happening and most adult men had been in the service and I knew many combat vets from prior wars (one from the first big shoot). Graham winning the Silver Star didn’t ring true, with him grinning at the claim (but not recounting story). He’s not on the list of recipients I Just checked.
Wikipedia says Bronze Star.
New site is pretty cool, although it did ask for verification I was a human the last time I tried to post something (I suppose, not so oddly, its not the first time I was ever asked that question)
The oxymoronic name and nickname of the small dog are a delight. Not only is the small breed named for the great Greek hero (an oxymoron within an oxymoron). The nickname tops it off. Perseus was known for his looks and physique. “Chunky” is perfect!
Too bad you never got to meet my my 120 lb. Boxer, Apollo. Not the most motivated furbaby, his nickname was the lovable lump of love
Perseus is the fattest Chihuahua I’ve ever seen!
She/He must eat really well. The ones I’ve seen and those in Mexico are so skinny.
He is a full figured Chi
As we get ever closer to the end of that roll, I’ve found this to be a really nice bonus: my kids aren’t kids anymore either, but the new adult-to-adult relationships we have are immensely rewarding.
Great weather now, but more hot, hot heat is coming here soon. You’ll probably get it soon afterwards.
I recognize you and Maverick…what’s the name of the cute little black and white pup?
That would be Perseus… aka Chunky. The mightiest Chihuahua ever!
