So Saturday last Izze Kaukonen, Cass Wilhelm, Myron Hart, John Hurlbut and me converged at River Of Time conveniently located at 19 W. Washington St. between The Donkey and Salaam. River Of Time is currently hosting The Art Of Grace Slick and our gallery space is also the de facto location for our free concerts. It was colder than a you-know-what outside but congenially warm inside ROT.

Here’s how the afternoon went. I played a couple of songs then we brought up the Izze, Cass, Myron & Jorma ensemble. Here’s a link Vanessa posted on the Hot Tuna Fan Page… I don’t do Facebook so you all are on your own here.  🙂

Izze sang Dock Of The Bay followed by an original, Let Me Down! That girl can write as well as sing!

Izze, Cass and myself exited the stage where Myron held forth for a couple of songs.

John Hurlbut and I were up next We played a decent mini set and then brought the show in for a landing, Almost two hours of free quality music for our neighbors in Athens… and I got to play with family and friends!

What’s not to like?

Sunday came and went and the sub freezing weather held on with a firm grip. I took my Jeep to town for servicing  this morning around 0730 and it was still single digits. the Weather Prophets have predicted mid forties this afternoon. We’ll see, I’m not sure I’m buying it!

Nessa and Mav’ braved the ridge for a walk. Suffice it to say, it was not mid-forties yet.

Interesting how some responses are delayed ,others contemplated and left inactive .
Far from the planning and execution of any human endeavor ,very few succcesful enterprises are accomplished in the absence of quality tools( be it chisel ,plane ,wheel or guitar )and then the dedication and faithful execution lent by human hand .
After seeing the array of winter tools and implements that allowed you to successfully maintain Fur Peace ,I had both sympathy and a chuckle .
It brought me back to a parking lot encounter in Lynchburg Virginia where a certain musician sitting on tail gate of a Red Pickup ,commented when Wendy and I rode our Road bikes up ,”You look like a gadget guy”.
Those slick black wheels with 3/16” rubber on the road will get you there .I was impressed with the mule and snow blower .
We’ve been plowing our farms in Ky ,but haven’t gotten the blower out in a few years .Thats alway big fun for the German Shepards as significant discharge turns them into adolescents .This entire response was inspired by an early morning listen to Gordon Lightfoots “Canadian Railroad Trilogy .
Owsleys profession was a little more refined tip of the hat to R Crumbs Mr Natural “Get the Right tool for the Job”
As a comment ,I was given a few vintage Zap comics for Christmas ,great gifts.
    Keep on truckin

Sounds like it was a little ensconced music festival. I can (and will) only imagine. That warm air from the Gulf is headed your way, so hang on a little longer.
I jumped in my truck and “Baby Scratch My Back” from Levon live at the Ryman was playing away on the Bluetooth . I wanted to check what was on Bluesville and switched to XM. What was playing? “Baby Scratch My Back” Slim Harpo style. So, I’m getting strong vibes that I need to ask my baby to scratch my back when I get back home! Peace.
