Saturday Waiting For Spring

Not much to weigh in on this weekend… yet. It’s drizzling and in the high 40’s. It just feels dank and dreary but at least I’m not shoveling snow. Being home for a bit I’ve had the chance to hang with the four footed ones, Maverick and Perseus. The boys and I have been enjoying each other’s company. It’s nice to be home and yet there are aspects of the road I do miss. On the road, purpose is ...

A Dalliance At The River Of Time And A Night At Natalie’s

So on Saturday the 24th John Hurlbut and I descended upon Vanessa’s River Of Time Boutique. I played some solo pieces and then the two of us got together and finished the afternoon off. Last night we drove up to Columbus, Ohio and played a show at Natalie’s Grandview. I played forty five minutes or so and then we finished off the evening together.

The second week teaching in San Diego

The second week teaching in San Diego was just as awesome as the first. The conversation in a roomful of guitarists is always illuminating! A really great bunch of guys and their families. A good time was had by all! After everyone left around noon on Friday, John Hurlbut and I drove up to Palm Springs and after checking in at the hotel in Palm Springs we drove across I-10 ...

Writing With Friends In San Diego

Vanessa, always optimistic hoping for sunshine, dances at the Dana with the eternal children who never tire!

On Monday the 5th, we welcomed our songwriting class to a week of intense writing here in San Diego. When we left Athens we looked forward to some moderate Southern California weather and while there was no snow here in SoCal, the weather was anything but moderate. I’m actually seeing some blue skies outside the hotel window today but it’s ...

Early Spring…Buckeye Chuck

Buckeye Chuck was unavailable for a photo op, but Maverick shared getting cleaned and pressed at Tractor Supply’s Do-It-Yourself dog laundry

Our very own Marmota Monax, Chuck says an early spring is in the offing and that’s OK by us. The cold never used to bother me but as I’ve gotten older I find I prefer to be toasty. This means that even if it gets into the 50’s today, the motorcycle is staying in the garage. ...

White Rabbit featuring Elaine Caswell, backed by Jorma Kaukonen, Ricky Byrd, Rich Pagano, Steve Conte as well as a hidden bass player and two keyboards also hidden.

Photographer unknown by me, but thanks!

As a person who has been in recovery for a couple of 24 hours, being able to be a part of this show was more than a pleasure… it was an honor!

Here’s a link that explains it better than I can.

The Cavalcade Of Stars Comes To River Of Time

So Saturday last Izze Kaukonen, Cass Wilhelm, Myron Hart, John Hurlbut and me converged at River Of Time conveniently located at 19 W. Washington St. between The Donkey and Salaam. River Of Time is currently hosting The Art Of Grace Slick and our gallery space is also the de facto location for our free concerts. It was colder than a you-know-what outside but congenially warm inside ROT.

The Jeep… poised to go!

Yeah, we got a little more snow than we anticipated… not as much as folks in other parts of the country, but impressive for the Ohio River Valley. I grabbed a little breakfast and motored on down to the Fur Peace Ranch to plow some snow.

Spencer & Paul at Woodstock

Spencer Dryden April 7, 1938 – January 11, 2005

Here’s to us and those like us, damn few left!

In the photo above you see Spencer Dryden and Paul Kantner at Bethel Woods. It was more than a lifetime ago for some and a fading memory for those of us still inhabiting this earth. Spencer Dryden and Jack Casady were the anchormen for Jefferson Airplane in that time. In my opinion, even these many years later, the ...
