A fine night last eve in Portsmouth. Some inventive playing was done if we do say so ourselves.

The Last Ride Day 1
A late summer, early morning at the Ranch. Departure day for the boys.

I guess on some level I realized that if I stayed alive long enough I would get older. Yeah, I get it. That’s really a no-brainer. What never really occurred to as I was walking that road was that I would feel older. All of a sudden I am that man, inhabiting that skin traveling that highway that is a one way road. (Don’t ...

Family is a strange sometimes indefinable thing and yet without it we are tragically alone. For all practical purposes I have no immediate family. That’s just the way it is and it’s water under the bridge. When I married Vanessa all of a sudden I found myself a part of a large and incredibly dynamic family group. Being in the orbit of the Gagnés has made me feel that indeed I ...

A Gig And Father’s Day
Father’s Day with the Family. How good does it have to get. I am usually on the road. Holidays such as Father’s Day is usually celebrated with FaceTime at best and the phone at second best. To actually be with the gang on such an occasion… Priceless!
That was Sunday… Saturday night was a gig at the Loft. Another cool gig in ...

Dining On The Vineyard
David Wolff, our cohort, guide and friend here on the Vineyard guided us to the Red Cat Kitchen in Oak Bluffs where Ben DeForest, a music lover like myself and chef nonpareil treated us to a dinner that was off the charts. If you’re ever on the Vineyard a trip into Oak Bluffs is in order for a killer dinner.
I recommend the ...

Steelville To Skokie
Drone Shot by Jorma Kaukonen
It was almost 20 years since I played the Wildwood Lodge with Barry Mitterhoff and this was the first time for Jack and myself. It’s more than an amazing gig, suffice it to say. The little town of Steelville is being restored with loving historical accuracy and well… we had a fabulous experience!

Jorma Solo Tour Wrap Up
I finished up at the Flying Monkey last night. Love that gig. We drove after show to Wellsboro, Pennsylvania to service the bus and we’ll head for Pomeroy about midnight tonight. I’ll do a more in depth retrospective when I get home, but in the meantime, here are the sets as best I can recall:

Working My Way North

By the time I write this, my old friend David Bromberg will have played his last show. I hope his time will continue to be fulfilling. Here in my world I just finished a trifecta of gigs, starting with The Jefferson in Charlottesville.

My Hometown!
Vanessa, Izze and I headed to D.C. (My hometown indeed) to visit my son Zach and his lady and we took Izze’s pal Henry along as well. On Wednesday we all headed into DC proper from Arlington to do a little sightseeing.
It was a relatively warm day but the freezing temperatures of the previous week left the reflecting pond frozen.
