November 6th, 2014 6 comments

OK folks… a lovely Fall day here at Hillside Farm… a little rain, but in the 50’s. Our new cat, Weasley, is having breakfast with our trusted main cat, Zammy… Maverick, Dog Of Destiny, is still sleeping… Vanessa is opening a pomegranate… good times.

Let's go class!

Let's go class!

I’ve never done a live streaming lesson before but David Wolff talked me into it. (It wasn’t too hard) Check it folks:

Dear Students & Prospective Students of,

We had a fantastic response to our request to pick 2 songs for Jorma to teach on his first Live Streaming Lesson. The results have been tallied and he will be teaching:

“I Belong To The Band”
“In The Kingdom”

This great event will be held on Sunday, December 14, 2014 at 7pm EST

You can access the signup page here:

The cost will be $99.99

OK, that’s it for the mercantile statement… join us if you can.

Now, tomorrow is our final workshop this year at the Fur Peace Ranch. This would entail Jack Casady, G.E.Smith, Spencer Bohren and yours truly.

Yep… seventeen amazing years. We are so blessed and so grateful for all the amazing gifts we enjoy.

Beautiful Week For FPR On The Road

January 22nd, 2013 12 comments

Just a short note as I get ready for breakfast here by Mission Bay. Indeed, we have a full house this week for our second session here in San Diego. Considering how cold things are at home in Ohio this week, this is indeed a nice place to be… although, of course, weather notwithstanding, there’s no place like home. Of course for this session of the Fur Peace Ranch On The Road we have Barry Mitterhoff, Marjorie Thompson and David Wolff on board. With a constellation of stars like this, we and the students are sure to have a grand time…

Jorma on the Ural sidehack at Ocean Beach

Jorma on the Ural sidehack at Ocean Beach

So yesterday morning while walking on Ocean Beach I saw this Ural rig and the owner kindly let me sit on it and have my picture taken… I may have to get one of these.

Anyway, my pal Marc Shechter’s law firm, Butterfield and Schechter just celebrated their fifteenth anniversary and Marc asked me to pick a few tunes ate the fete which I was more than happy to do.

Here is a list of those tunes, not necessarily in that order and not necessarily complete:

Another hotel... welcome to my world!

Another hotel... welcome to my world!

Thanks to David Wolff’s vision, ingenuity and persistence… Breakdownway has become a really delightful instructional force to be reckoned with. None of this would have happened without David… and well me too. We have grown immensely since our moderately humble beginnings and we now have an amazing collection of wonderfully eclectic musician instructors who are putting themselves out there to teach. Those of you players out there should check it out… it is really amazing! If you can’t get to one of our Fur Peace Ranch sessions, log onto Breakdown Way.

We taped about half a dozen new lessons at Studio Instrument Rentals so I now have plenty of new lessons in the can. Keep in mind, we now have more instructors than I can count, so check it out yourself.

Our friend, the great chef Tom Colicchio stopped by to check out the action and of course, I grabbed him for a picture.

What a gig… music, food… Hmmm… time for breakfast!
