Fur Peace Station in the snow

The weather is, well, changeable as the weather. Yeah, there was some bitter cold and a little snow. Never a bad time to put the drone up and take some pictures though.

The tiny Shade River swollen by melting snow and rain.

Those of us fortunate enough to live in the country know what I’m talking about. I’m not a farmer, so I’m not one with the land in that pure and unarguable way. I’m am, however, connected to it enough to feel it breathe and change. The frigid cold came and went and so far the ice storms have bypassed our little part of the world. Lots of rain, but still some breathing time to put the drone up again.

Yeah, hiking through the woods sure gives a different picture from the aerial shots. I’m getting to know my little corner of the world in a completely different way.

Yesterday there was a break in the weather action and my bud Jerry and I decided to suit up and go over to Athens Fish And Game and do a little shooting.

Athens Fish And Game is a beautiful facility that is both family and conservation oriented. I thought about the venison meatloaf I had for breakfast as I was driving over and took a moment out to thank the Great Spirit for sending that buck our way.

Yeah, we had a great time plinking around. I came home in time to clean my pieces and eat some of Vanessa’s killer home made chicken soup. Almost all of the food on our table these days comes from the land around us. It’s a nice way to be.

Well… time to walk the Big Dog again… best to all, and honor Martin Luther King on this day!

Ya know John, the obummer comment is really not called for and just shows your true colors. It’s obvious where you get ALL your information about the world today. I just suggest you broaden your scope of info. If you have satellite radio just give a listen to channel 127 if you want some truth instead of propaganda. Read a few different papers, watch a few different news stations and shows.

Again, do some real research into these proposed cabinet members. A Secretary of Educ. who is a billionaire who has never had a job like this before, who has spent her life giving to organizations who want to DO AWAY WITH public education. Does the educ. system need work? Of course, but not wiped away. Do you want 100% privatized schools that take any semblance of control away from parents and families? Ridiculous.

A Treasury Secretary who “failed” to disclose $95 M in assets on disclosure docs to the Senate Finance Committee. He also “failed” to mention his role as director of an investment fund located in a TAX HAVEN. He is also a former Goldman Sachs banker, the very people you all buried Hillary for just TALKING TO. Again, Ridiculous.

You tell me how that qualifies as “draining the swamp”?

    Trump Invokes America First

America First was an isolationist, anti-semitic, pro-Nazi-type organisation that flourished in the US during the 1930’s as Hitler and Mussolini consolidated power in Germany and Italy respectively, and Imperial Japan invaded China and other Asian countries.

Amongst its members were notorious anti-semites like Henry Ford and isolationists like Joseph Kennedy (father of the Irish-American clan), Charles Lindbergh and Walt Disney. It was dissolved within days of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in December 1941.

In his inauguration speech yesterday, Donald Trump twice invoked the slogan ‘America First’ to illustrate his own brand of economic nationalism and political isolationism. Ed Moloney The Broken Elbow Website
    Huffington Post also mentions it

Republican – Democrat, does it really make a difference? They do not possess a panacea for this fallen world. Our government is all about who controls the power.

2 Chronicles 7:14 “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

Chapter 7 of 2 Chronicles, purportedly Ezra talks about the dedication of the temple Solomon built. The Lord fills the temple with his presence and give the Israelites a pretty clear ultimatum.

Sadly, not only as a nation, but also as individuals, we sorely miss the point. G_d gave Moses 10 basic rules to live by. Our Government tries to put band aids on the severed arteries of society, when the consequences of violating those 10 commands begins to manifest itself.

    We reap what we sow.

I really tried to not respond to this post, but it just can’t be left out there with no response.

“Finally not a politician”. Government is not a business. A business is run to make a profit for its shareholders. A government shouldn’t run to make a profit, it is there to serve its citizens. Every time we have had a man who was primarily in business and not a politician our economy has suffered. Hoover (the great depression) and Bush II (remember how close to depression we were in 2008?) are the 2 best examples. Do you call a plumber when you need an electrician?

“She’d be under indictment and in big trouble”. No, she simply wouldn’t. Don’t you think if she really did anything to cause her to be under indictment, a lost election would keep her from such? Of course not! She has been scrutinized for over 30 years and nothing has ever been found. Look into that nonsense with the FBI just DAYS before the election and you will see how crooked and unfair that was. If anyone should be under indictment it’s James Comey and Rudy Guliani!

“We needed to clean up Washington”. Trumps’ cabinet is as far from cleaning up Washington as you can get. I wish there was time and space to look at each appointment here, but I’ve taken up too much already. (Sorry Jorma). Just one example, Trump constantly blasted Hillary for her Wall Street ties. There are 4-5 people Trump has appointed for his cabinet with direct Wall Street careers. How is that refreshing? I hope after tomorrow we still have a country we can salvage after the destruction of the next 4 years. Wait till you see the decisions by the SCOTUS that will be coming, unless the Dems can inforce some form of sanity.

With righteous indignation, it will look across the seas and see individual capitalists of the West investing huge sums of money in Asia, Africa, and South America, only to take the profits out with no concern for the social betterment of the countries, and say, “This is not just.” It will look at our alliance with the landed gentry of South America and say, “This is not just.” The Western arrogance of feeling that it has everything to teach others and nothing to learn from them is not just.”

Ya know, I started listening to the blues when I was about 16 or so. Found an old Leadbelly album, and one by Jimmy and Mama Yancey. Once I got to Austin, Lightnin’ and Freddy King really lit me up. But, I’m basically a consumer. I’ve studied on it a little, but mainly just like to listen to whatever it is comes on. All this time, I never heard of Piedmont blues. Delta, oh yeah and Texas, of course then Chicago style. I got turned on to Piedmont right here on this website (though I’d been listening to it ever since I started listening to Tuna and didn’t know it). Here not long ago I listened to Walking Blues, then Hestiation Blues right behind it. The difference bowled me over. Both blues, but different styles that I wouldn’t have recognized without a nudge. I want to thank you for the musical education I’ve gotten just from hanging around here. It’s a mighty fine place to visit. Peace.

The Second Amendment aside, its common sense to be able to own a firearm for hunting and personal protection. It’s quite another thing to own an arsenal in the nonsense belief that the Constitution has a provision for overthrowing the government. It doesn’t, and indeed, Article I, §8 gives Congress the power to “To provide for calling forth the militia to execute the laws of the union, suppress insurrections and repel invasions.” Furthermore, Article I, §9 states: “The privilege of the writ of habeas corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in cases of rebellion or invasion the public safety may require it.”

The right to own a weapon, like the right of free speech, is not an absolute. You can’t yell “fire” in a crowded theater, as Oliver Wendell Holmes famously remarked, and you can’t sell a bottle of mislabeled rum in a drugstore and claim that it cures cancer.

Even the most conservative constitutional scholars and jurists agree that there are reasonable limits on firearm ownership (background checks, for example). Scalia’s majority opinion in District of Columbia v. Heller (2008) stated, “We also recognize another important limitation on the right to keep and carry arms. Miller said, as we have explained, that the sorts of weapons protected were those “in common use at the time.” 307 U. S., at 179. We think that limitation is fairly supported by the historical tradition of prohibiting the carrying of “dangerous and unusual weapons.”
